To Free heel or not to Free heel

I'm thinking about selling my touring setup to get a telemark setup. I mainly ski just around the wasatch resorts and get into the backcountry maybe once or twice a year. I mainly ski with my wife and she's good but I want to spice up my day skiing. I've telemarked one time before on a friends setup and it was the sketchiest but craziest time I've had in a long time on just groomed runs. Is it worth it to switch? Anyone else make the change in their mid 20's? Will I be kissing my knee's goodbye for good?

Any recommendations for a first setup? I'm thinking about just buying a cheap used setup but am also intrigued by the NTN setups? I'm 6'1" and my current daily drivers are 184 moment bibbys which are 118 underfoot. Should I go for something like 80 or 100mm underfoot and shorter length? I'm all ears for any input, thoughts, or questions.

If you’re near salt lake you can demo ntn setups at freeheel life (tele only shop). Go for it!!!

Hell yea make the switch! I just picked up some used Scarpa TX Pros that fit really well, most likely picking up some 22 Design Lynx to put on an older pair of Head 102’s.

give the freeheel life podcast a listen, some of the episode have great gear information

Learn on 75mm, switch to ntn when you’re getting better. If you learn on ntn, you are learning the opposite of what the true turn is. It will also make you way better at ntn.
