to cross or not to cross

there are obvisly two stand out different styles in skiing, crossing your skis or not. do u think that tricks look better with your skis crossed or just safety, or critical or non crossed tail grabs?

 
depends on the trick but a nice cross adds to the style

ok he might not move his hands around as much but that doesnt make him a sicker all around skier then candide sorry, and candide has a totally different style oyu cant really compare it dumbass

 
dash's style takes candide to school, but candide is still the better skier. he has more technical tricks under his belt.

 
i agree, candide goes bigger and has more tricks. but he looks like shit in the air. i would way rather watch dash ski than candide. i think it is harder to do a trick lets say cork seven and not cross your skis and keep em perfictly still.

 
it really depends on the trick, like a dspin looks much better crossed than uncrossed, refer to a vid of t halls dspins, but i cant think of any other tricks that i think look better with crosses, candide makes his crosses look sick tho, like in his big threes

the only problem with uncrossed is the guys who do it seem to fall into patterns of one or two grabs. that's why jon and tanner are sick cause they've mixed both

so true with the grabs. ther are so many grabs that you can do without crossing your skis, in fact you can do every grab without crodding your skis.

 
Uncrossed is more styli, but it does all kinda loook the same and gets repetitive. You kinda have to do both.

Yeah, like don't bother to cross if you can't make it look smooth and take your time. If you have problems crossing just don't cross and go with a safety.

With an off-axis spin, a cross is awesome. But with just a normal spin, a safety or liu kang all the way.

Hmm, i sued to prefer crosseed but right now I thinking more along the lines of tweaked safetys. Tweaking to the side without a cross is so sick.

 
personally i like uncrossed better than crossed, but it is probbly safe to say you kinda gotta mix it up and throw in a little cross now and then.

 
I think crossing and not crossing can both look just as sick, and I think to make it the best you have to do a little of both in your tricks, just don't be repetitive.

Also, Candide has siiick style, sometimes he flails but that's what happens when you go over a tabletop with more cubic footage than most people's houses. his shit on rails and that huge step up, for the amount of air hes getting and the speed he's going its the slowest smoothest shit. I'd like to see tanner or Dash hit that table or do that stepup and do it as clean as Candide!

I dont think it's 'crossed vs uncrossed' its 'lazy vs tweaked' style. I prefer the lazy style. very low key, slow, if any, movement. grabs can be crossed, but they arent tweaked.

i like crossed with the big spins and the iron cross mute grab is still a great trick. shut up if you think its gay, just shut up. so what if i can't quite tweak it enough, i still look cool. i guess i kind of like the tucked up, uncrossed slow 3s and 5s too. it's kind of hard to tweak an uncrossed grab and make it look good in my opinion though

Hmmm, great attitude man. Anyways, yeah you need diversity. Olsson is pretty diverse as well as Pep and most riders out there right now. I think the lazy vs tweaked thing is the same. I like em both, if they are well done.

everyone crosses, if you want to be original go with your own grab like chrichton who really made his own shit with the alleyoop flatspin critical. theres nothing wrong with the tried and true of crossing like tanner but learn every trick you do with different grabs and then it will eventualy just come naturaly. then you will be a very good skier.

 
i like to cross while skiing downhill still on the ground lift one ski up cross it then grabed hold it for a while then let go jump up and do a 180 then do the cross switch. it is tons of fun i saw. but yeh cross are sweet do them. but some times dont cause if you get a nice slow spin with a safty OH GOD those are awesome.

striaght 180s, 540s, and 900 look bad with a cross. 360s, 720s, and 1080s look nice crossed.

know what would be sick? a flatspin 540 with a huge mute.

 
any backwards landing grab trick cant look good crossed

yeah i dont think anyone should limit their selfs. you should try to get all different grabs and shit b/c after a while all your tricks look the same. you should mix it up

take a look at tanner. he doesn't cross on small spins (though he goes huge on them), but of course crosses when he does cork/d-spin and such. take a look at his d-spin 1080 in Happy Dayz, that has so much cross to it, it's cool
