To anyone who rode in the TC Big air/Rail jam

I just wanted to hear people's opinions on the construction of the various features.

I worked with the Blue operations team to build those two events, and I just want to hear your opinions!

Feel free to be ruthless, I want to know if you guys loved/hated it.

i thought the set up for the rail jam was sick.. rail wise.. however there were so many people in such a confined area.. i almost smashed liek 4 people in runs.. also i thought if you could hit more then one rail at a time things may have been more interesting...

I didnt compete in the big air but i herd it was sick.. i thought the whole invite things was kinda sketch.. though maybe the way last years was done was better. those who threw doesn in slopestyle could get invited but w.e no complaints here..

Rail jam was sick, i ate it hard, but what i hit was fun. I thought all the rails were super fun and well built and set up.

As for the big air, it looked like a great set-up and I wish i could have competed. It sucks they put you in a tight spot with all that invite stuff, it would probably wear pretty thin having a bunch of people ask if they're in or not, including myself. Maybe blue mountain should have a 10 person invite list or so with an additional top 3 from slopestyle and 2 "dougs discretion" spots.

One thing I heard from some of the competitors was that it sucked that there wasn't much practice before the comp began. Blue mountain should realize that more practice would make for a better event because everyone would be more confident to throw down. I'm sure you agree, but it was probably out of your control.

Overall, the whole event was good. The slopestyle course was soooo good, pipe walls were in great shape, rail jam was hot, this is my first year doing it but it seems to get better every year.

Yeah, having the qualification from slopestyle is the best thing to do.

I loved when it was invite the top 3 from last year, and then anyone who can jump well gets moved to big air from slopestyle.

Simple, and there's no hassle.

Training thing was bad... it was great to have it over at the village, but that needs to be organized much better.

The rail jam was super tight. Hell, I didn't think there was any way we could get all those rails in that tiny little spot. It would have been nice to have a few rails in a row, and we tried to do that, but you should have seen how tight it was. We had to do the stagger thing.

All in all, for the first year running it over at the village I think that it went pretty well.

I'm sure they'll listen to the recommendations they see here and incorporate some of it into next year's comp.

Coming from a spectator only, the two events seemed to have gone well. The guys were throwing huge in the big air and everyone seemed to have fun in the rail jam and turned it into a mini big air. I have to admit that being a ski schooler and helping with the Crossmax it seemed a lil sketchy having the big air practice running during the Crossmax finals.

Personally i think the big air practice should have run during the 1.5 hr break in the Crossmax from 5-630.

Ski Patrol did the best they could control the crowds and keep the trails open, i thought the use of space in the rail jam was awesome making the riders walk up the outside to keep the interior clear. My only concern was the crowd at the bottom of the exit of the big air we were taking bets on who was gunna get smoked first.

But yah,,,, awesome job everyone and you made for a wicked show!!!!

Couple good friends, couple cold beers, couple HUGE puddles all equal a wicked night on the farm...

i wasnt able to hit the big air jump (due to it being invite only) but it certainly looked huge. my personal preference would have been to have a jump that size, but not quite as much height...the pop was just rediculous on it - the guys were 30 ft off the top of the deck!

as for slopestyle, more practice time was necessary...we could have easily started the first round at noon and still had enough time for everything. (last year was much better having an entire day for practice).

regarding the days TC was held on, i realize they wanted to have the big air on the last night and they wanted it on saturday, but having it on a thursday, and friday is soemwhat inconvenient for a lot of the competitors. we have school, and others have work on these days, and for high school students, 2 days in a row is a lot to miss - for me, i had to skip pipe on friday to go back to school to catch up.

overall last year i think was a better event (perhaps this is due to doug and jodi leaving) haha. well, you two certainly know how to run events!

^ i disagree. the big air kick was fucking amazing. it was like floating. we did get to hit it 3 times for practise, so we just got to skip the bullshit and cut right to the tricks. doug . straight up.. you did good champ. as for the rail jam. i said fuck that noise. kinda looked more like a demo for sepctators. doug next year go nucks-75 feet. and liek the other comment said we needed a big outrun from the big air cause i hated dodging the weekend warriors. Yup.

We tried for 75 feet, but there wasn't enough deck to make the jump right. The tranny was so quick... we had it at 75 and as perfect as it was going to be, and we just couldn't leave it. The jump looked like a U.

I think next year a slightly shorter landing, with more deck on top would be good.
