To anyone who knows anything about subarus (or just cars in general)

in the next 2 or 3 weeks about to start my summer project. im gonna attempt a sti engine swap into a forester.

im guessing it will take a few weeks, ive never pulled an engine before, however im confident i can do it with some help from my friends.

any thoughts before i begin? ill make a thread to show my progress in a month or so.

How much do you and your friends really know? It might help to know someone who knows exactly what they are talking about before you start.

Also, where are you getting the engine and for how much? It might just be cheaper to throw in a Stage 1 app/partial Stage 2 app (turboed/intercooled) into your stock engine, and you would probably get more hp out of it.

Just my two cents, I don't know a ton about this, but I know a little.

If you haven't checked it out I'd suggest looking over at NASIOC.com there a tons of build progress threads over there that have every detail of what to do. I'd also make sure you have everything needed because if I remember correctly you need more than just an STI engine for the swap. But good luck and for sure make a progress thread so we can see how its going.

Just stay clean and organized. Bag and Label every screw you take out so you know where it goes. Tag all your cable and sensors so you know where they go. Triple check everything before you pull it so you dont break anything.
Just stay cool and when you get frustrated stop. Pulling engines on these new cars is a pain in the ass with all the electronics and shit. I'm currently in the process of replacing the engine in my Chevy S10 and I'm about a day away from the swap. It took me about a day total work to get everything disconnected, so its not really that time consuming.
PM me if you have any other questions, and good luck.

i dont know that much but between my friends we know every thing. one kid who has a 420whp sti, another who has been around his dads shop his entire life.

i want to do the engine swap just because it can handle the mods im planing on doing.

as for NASIOC, ive been on there and seen what ive needed. subaruforester.org has a lot of useful info too.

What year of Forester are you putting it in? And what other mods are you planning on? I love swap builds.
