To all you ski patrollers/emergency first responders out there:

i'm taking my OEC test sometime next week. tbh im pretty nervous about the paper part, less so than i am about the practical part. was the paper test hard? is there anything in particular i should study? im about halfway through the book and plan on using knowledge i've gathered being a junior candidate for a season and a half.

patient assessment and anatomy are probably the two most important, which ill probably review closer to the test. im just worried the test will ask really specific stuff that i may or may not know

probably quite similar to CSPS testing for ski patrol in Canada? if so, it's not very difficult.

i hope so. apparently there are a bunch of questions on childbirth, which i wasn't even planning on reading. ha

Oh god dude, the OEC test is fucked. It really is. For some reason, the 7th edition and the corresponding test are written in such a way to trick you. Pregnancy is on there, triaging is on there more than it should and some other things.

Don't beat yourself up if you fail it the first time, only 2 people in my entire class passed it. You almost have to reread the entire book before you take the test to pass. The questions are so obscure and bassackwards.
