To all those who live in or close to Seattle...

Long story short, I'm from downtown Buffalo, NY and may be getting a job in Seattle, specifically in the Fremont/Green Lake/Phinney Ridge, Wallingford area. Since I may need to move out there ASAP I'm beginning to look for apartments.

To anyone in the area, I would love some input as to where the good/bad places in Seattle are (in regards to crime, nightlife, etc.) so I can narrow my search a bit. To give you an idea of what I'm looking for, I'm 21 and enjoy living in more urban areas where everything is close by. Obviously I'm looking for something relatively inexpensive, but I'm fine paying up to around $1400/mo for a nice place.

Thanks and +++K for any good input!

Green Lake seems like a pretty damn nice place to live. I don't know about apartments in the area, but there's probably something.

ballard and fremont are great areas and pretty affordable, west seattle also has a great vibe (thats where i'm living), capitol hill is awesome but can be good and bad. you wanna mostly stay away from beacon hill, south park and rainier valley but keep in mind theyres always diamonds in the ruff

Top of the list is def fremont/green lake, phinney ridge and wallingford are both also super nice.

West seattle is a bit out of the way, those places you listed are sweet because they are right smack in the middle of everything and most things that are fun to do in seattle are easily reachable via bike/bus.

Also you should be able to find a place for way less than 1400/month.

First off, that video is amazing.

Secondly I would recommend living in Wallingford or Fremont no matter where you worked, but since you work in the area it's a double bonus.

NW Seattle works like this

Ballard: Dickbags & Families full of dickbags too cool for you

Fremont: Hipsters too cool for you, but also a great place to hang out

Wallingford & Phinney Ridge: Cheaper to live, fun, but not quite as fun as fremont.

The rest of Seattle:

Cap hill: gay

beacon hill: fucking narnia

rainier ave:see above

Intl district:can be fun, or sketchy, or both

downtown: lame

green lake:ok, perfect if you want to perfect the art of kidnapping jogging wimens

U District: lame

SODO: you gonna get raped

queen anne: boring

northgate: narnia

alki beach: fun, but also narnia

seattle center: ahahahahaha

Thanks for all the help guys. It looks like I'm moving to Seattle in a month!

Is anyone looking for a roommate? If you are, PM me and we'll talk. I would love to split rent and save some cash.

I live on Phinney and it's really really awesome. Ballard is a mile away, greenlake is less than a mile away, fremont is a mile away, and wallingford is a mile away. All of these places are awesome. In order of awesomeness:

Phinney Ridge

Ballard

Wallingford

Greenlake

Fremont

and I think phinney/ballard are a complete tie.

you will be blown away with the summers out here. Especially if you are 21+
