To all the recent threads hating on style:

okay let me just say this would any sport skiing or snowboarding progress if we didn't push ourselves to try things that don't feel natural or right. You can say it is all about just doing what you want but neither of these sports would have changed if people didn't try new things that to the average person seem hard and not fun. I am not saying we shouldn't have fun, no you shouldn't compete in every comp and i think every one should get out of the park more and ski pow and just mess around i have made that something i want to do more of this year. But again at first does skiing switch feel good or is it fun, no, this stuff isn't fun at first if is fun mastering something like that and then having fun doing. But really it were all about fun and what feels right neither snowboarding or skiing would go anywhere, because both involve risks that don't at first feel good but as soon as you do it is amazing. So we should all try to have more fun but remember progression won't happen if you don't push yourself beyond your comfort zone.

Some people have fun competing and trying new things, such as getting out of their comfort zone. Actually, many people do.

okay but the guy in the video was hatin on shuan white for competing so much and many times along with the fun/style debate there is hate against competing and if it weren't for competing then there would really be no progression and no progression = groomers and nothing else skiing got in that rut back in the day but the park and freesking craze brought it back to life, pushin the limits brought skiing back.

While the point of competitions progressing style is definitely true one way or another, videos have just as much influence. And again, I'm sure tanner simon candine etc enjoy winning and have fun pushing themselves along with this sport, which just goes back on the first argument that they have fun competing. Either way though, I don't see how he was hating on white though. And I didn't post this video to start hate...

hes so dead on, just do what you like, competitions don't seem fun, but there are a lot of good boarders skiers tht will inspire you, and you will inspire them, so comps are imho a good way to push limits, to deal with stress and just to chill out, but sometimes people forget why they do comps, and their only focus is winning, beating the others, and they will ski to win, not to have fun....

I'd rather go skiing with people Who just like skiing or even boarding then going with peeps tht continuously keep pushin it, and get pissed if they bail on a trick, its much more fun to just have fun and laugh at falling instead of crying and being pissed on yourselves, hey thats life, and admit it, falling is the only way to progress....

yo how about we dont classify ourselves as what kind of skiing we do, then these factions in skiing would dissappear.

erm, no. he was saying that shaun wins all the comps coz he likes winning and thats cool- he says there's no right or wrong way to have fun. winning comps, charging lines, goofing around on the hill- whatever works for you is what its all about.

thats what he was saying. and he was spot on.

he is soo chill. and for those who dont know him nicolas muller is a KILLER he owns he has a sick style.

less hate would make this sport so much better.

he is right. Pollard has the same speach in Seven sunny days.

Yup he is the man. He is hands down my favorite boarder out there.

He is totally right to, just ski or board or whatever and have fun.

shit that is so chill. I got the whole "For Right or Wrong" dvd at a rail comp for free and that is my fave part overall. That guy has the right idea, just chill, relax and ride.

Skiing will always be about fun for me. That comes in many forms: jibbing a rail, moondropping into a perfect landing, landing in bushes, straightlining moguls, hiking for pow turns, the list goes on.

I don't know what it means to you, nor should I change your preception. To me, what you feel skiing is is irrelevant. It doesn't change how I view it.

I just wish people could learn to coexist peacefully.

WOw i started reading all the ( plus-minus )responces to this thred and alls i have to say, in all my life i have never watched/listenend to a better concept on skiing/snowboarding/skateboarding/BMX/rollerblading/wakeboarding/dirtbiking... whatever fuck even figureskating. Trust me kiddies I know, ive been skiing for along as time and I know, i added that video to my fav's and i honastly wanna watch it before i do anything in live.

somtimes some of the best quotes are from someone who does not speak the language of the quote.... " ..Having Fun.... and there is no one who can tell you how your having the most fun.. you just got to find it out.""
