To all the people who say islam is a dangerous religion:

Are you a Muslim, because if you are there is a 7% chance that you are a terrorist. And being a terrorist is not cool.

lol you call them allies to fight your ennemies then attack them when they're not the puppets you want them to be (talibans). You finance, support and arm an illegal nation that invaded their countries and keeps expanding into their territories (israel). You declare multiple wars on them over the past 50 years in the name of your own national security causing tens of thousands of civillian casualties (afg, iraq twice, etc.). From their point of view, the one main thing western world brought to them is Death.

Desperate people turn to religion in times of darkness, fundamentalist gurus know that really well and it's pretty easy for them to transmit their interpretation of the Quran. Continuing to bomb the middle-east in only making things worst by giving these fundamentalist more arguments can't you see that?!

Islam is a religion of peace, as are all the great religions.

If it was the other way around I wonder how many christian fundamentalist groups would expand...

How do you call Israel an illegal nation when it was established 50 (or so) years ago after being under British rule (I believe) and is official recognized by the UN? How would you feel if your country was attacked just 48 hours after being created? How would you feel if you not only defended your land but also gained territory, but then were asked by the UN and world leaders to give the territory you gained back? The US, Britian, Germany, etc. would never give back land that were spoils of war.

Here's an interesting, related picture I found too:

end-the-unjust-Jewish-occupation-of-Muslim-land.jpg

Lol! The creation of Israel was approved by the UN on dec 29th 1947. From 1922 to feb 1947 the brits were managing Palestine, then they transmitted the mandate to the UN. Newsflash : the UN have no legal power, their influence depends on the support of legitimate nations. I strongly beleive in the necessity of the UN but that doesn't change the fact that they have no legal power. So basically the motion to create Israel was approved by the UN, it was because all the nations with the most votes supported it and even though all the arabic countries voted against it, it wasn't enough to block the motion. Funny how nations can vote to divide a land they don't own on a continent they don't live in. Anyway, you can understand the frustration of the arabs.

Yes the ''country'' was attacked 48 hours after it's creation but sionists and palestinians had been already fighting for 30 years in palestine, it was their day-to-day reality.

Assuming the land is theirs, they have every right to defend it, not to conquer 81% of palestine, 26% more than the UN gave them. Obviously they had to give it back, they were already offered a country!

I just realised that I might give the impression that i hate jews which is not what i'm trying to say, quite the opposite actually. I'm not against Israel, i believe everyone should have a place to call home but i can't stand it when someone puts the blame on the arabs using half-truths.

I agree with you. I'm really losing faith in America but the rest of the world is really damn frustrating right now as well. We have so many problems on this planet and nobody wants to fix them. WTF

Your reasoning is that Islam is chill....because Malcolm X was...chill? You're a moron.

"By any means necessary."

Not Muslim.. ok, but to say his family is not or he did not grow up with it is asinine. Who else but Muslims name their kid "Hussein".

And what the fucking shit does America have to constantly apologize for?

Haha, I like how you say that the UN has no legitimate power when arguing about Israel being voted as a nation, but then say that Israel HAD to give the land back when the UN asked them to. If the UN has no legitimate power than Israel didn't have to give it back. Make up your mind on the UN's power.

Yeah, I agree with this. Honestly, I think the UN is a joke, but it seems to be able to make some progress in the world.

I would have to disagree. Egypt is a fascinating country, from the desert oases to some of the most important history of mankind to the beautiful waters and reefs of the Red Sea.

Same goes for Jordan.

I've probably never met friendlier people than Syrians. Lebanon has delicious food.

Turkey is similarily amazing.

In fact, the above countries are easily some of the world's most interesting, spectacular and best places to visit.

I haven't been to the others, but I'm quite confident that they also hold qualities about them that would easily make them worth visiting.

Perhaps you meant "live in?" Even then, I wouldn't necessarily agree. They simply live lives differently from how the western world does.

lemme get things straight, according to you the UN are a useless joke but have the authority to create/divide nations? you're the one who's gotta make up your mind

jesus. your level of ignorance never ceases to astound me. some of the most fascinating and oldest history on the planet is in those countries. you should seriously just be banned from posting in political threads, i dont think ive ever seen you make a post that made an ounce of sense.

i never said they had no beauty to offer. i'm saying a lot of unfavorable personalities come from these countries, and they hold a lot of political issues, and etc so forth.

Not really, there's a difference in stating my opinion on the UN and stating what the UN did and how nations of the world responded.

That portion of the world has almost always been at war with someone. It is never really THAT safe there. You can go sure, but be careful if you do.

my grandpa was in Jordan a while back when it was real sketch and he was fine. egypt is safe. i have a bajillion friends who have been to israel and have been fine. its not nearly as sketchy as people make it out to be.

I am just going off what my dad said (he used to be on merchant ships running through that area for almost 20 years [this was in the 70s and 80s though]) and he said it was safe, but you should have someone with you that knows the town or area you are in.

BUT, when war DOES break out there... don't piss of the Israelis... they kill EVERYONE

this is true. but as long as you arent an ignorant stupid american (thus ruling out most of the posters in this thread) you are going to be relatively safe. obviously there are a few countries that are less than safe (im looking at you Iran) but a lot of places arent that awful.

Places my dad told me to visit someday:

-Israel

-Lebanon

-Egypt

-Saudia Arabia if you can get in (the people are really nice he said)

-Qatar

-UAE

He said to kinda avoid the ----stan countries simply because when he was there a lot of them didn't have real stable governments or they were kinda getting headed towards Iran type situations.

why bother posting when you know full well what she meant? you might as well correct peoples grammar while youre at it

i am not muslim or have any affiliation with the islamic religion and traditions, but i find it very offensive that people actually believe that islam is inherently a dangerous or heartless religion. you really could not be be more. all religious texts can be interpreted as you please and people believe what they choose to believe. Different parts of the Quran and the bible can be interpreted as you please, and many people infer there to be aggressive texts in them. false.
read this. the middle east, which is more or less the center of the islamic world, would most likely be the same without the islamic religion. people of the middle east are the way they are do to imperialism, wars, genocide, and their geography what resources their lands have to offer.http://lazzouni.com/documents/FP_Jan-Feb-08.pdf

No, you said they are probably some of the worst countries to visit. I'm saying otherwise.

I'm not sure why you are telling me that you never said they had no beauty to offer.

And you know this because you've been to and travelled through both of them right?

Sudan actually has more pyramids than Egypt, but then who has ever cared about pyramids and seeing them...

Please don't be such an ignorant fool. They are countries that obviously have their fair share of problems, but that doesn't mean they don't have any redeeming qualities about them.

Believe it or not, much of the Middle East is not even dangerous... gasp.., but why am I telling you things you already know - you know, the things the TV told you.

i'm just saying, a lot of those places aren't very foreigner friendly, and have a lot of political issues. i wouldn't even live in most of those places. and unfortunately, a lot of encounters i've had with middle eastern people haven't always been pleasant. when you do chance meeting wonderful people from there, they don't always have amazing things to say about why they moved in the first place. and then sometimes you meet the guys who are just hanging out in the metros, or on your street, you treat you like a piece of ass, or are calling people n bombs, and swearing at everyone and such. i don't really want much tv, so i base my opinions on experiences i've had at work, or on the street or through immigrated friends or strangers i've met.

there's good and bad people in the world, no matter their creed, race, religion, whatever, and i was always brought up that way and i believe it, and willingly give any stranger the benefit of the doubt, but it still doesn't change facts.

I personally care when people have a warped image of a country from people they meet, to expeirence a country, go there.

warped... my point is, just because you meet nice, or rude people, doesn't change the fact that some of those countries aren't having civil wars, or whatever example you feel fit to pertain to which ever country.

Are you fucking kidding me Jenifa? You better be trollin'.

Would you like it if a Middle Eastern person generalized America based upon places like Newark, New Jersey, Detroit, Michigan, and the ghettos of America? No, you wouldn't. There are good and bad people in the world, and saying that Islam is bad because you've met Islamic people is like saying that humans are fat because you saw 2 fat people on the bus.

Would you please get the fuck out? Thanks.

YEAH, I MAD.

Fuck you. Anyone that says the middle east isn't foreigner friendly has clearly never been there or was doing some stupid ignorant American shit while they were there. Don't talk shit about cultures you know nothing about.

if jenifa wasnt allowed to talk about things she knew nothing about, she wouldnt be allowed to talk at all.

probably not.

that being said. how many people would actually want to travel to some of those countries? and why, or why not?

I LIVE THERE 4 MONTHS OUT OF THE YEAR. Jesus. Maybe if you pulled your collective touristic American heads out of your asses and try and understand the culture a bit, we wouldn't have these misunderstandings and pre-concieved stereotypes, now would we? Why wouldn't someone want to travel to Jordan or Lebanon, or Saudi Arabia or the UAE? They are beautiful places and have amazing natural monuments features and are tons of fun.

i've just honestly never though about it. i thought about places like thailand, india, scandinavia, japan, china, south america, mostly.

i know lebanon, egypt, turkey, morocco are places a lot of people go to...and with some of those countries at war, have civil wars, or i don't know whatever political yadda yadda. i personally don't think i'd want to go to turkey. pardon, my ignorance, but the animal cruelty is just so appealing.
