1. I have the last years firefighter pants from ronin. They are awesome and the best pair of snowpants ive ever owned. im a large kid and they are still nice and baggy, even around my feet. i think ronin stuff is pretty steezy. i work at a shop and i have found the burton branded stuff to be tight in the cuffs, but not the ronin.
2. anon is lame for dropping their skiers. instead of blaming burton, a still independent, true-to-its-roots, pretty-chill-to-be-involved-with company, im going to blame anthony bacon. his movies were primarily funded by anon and they were pretty poor. i think once the anon people saw that they were like, "woah, skiing is lame." unfortunately the skiing they saw was lame, due to the editing in those hosewater-sucking videos. like mirroring people's shots to make it look like they could do tricks unnatural, and using the same shot multiple times. anyways, im sure tj and parker wont have too much trouble finding new goggle sponsors. those kids f*cking shred.
3. i have heard rumors of burton bringing back the 'skiers vs snowboarders' grudge as a marketing scheme. if this is true its just another gimmick and i hope it doesnt work. most experienced snowboarders are wicked chill, at the worst elitist. its the n00bs who buy into the 'skiers suck' stereotype. it kind of sucks, though, stereotyping, and i think when snowboarders do it they are a little bit entitled to, kind of like how black people are allowed to call white people crackers and were not allowed to say nikka. up at snowbird people will come up to me and say, completely serious, "i hear the snow is better at alta because theres no snowboarders up there to scrape it all off." the snow is better up at alta because its a few hundred feet higher, and the storms hang out up there a little longer cuz they get stuck at the end of the canyon. unfortunately it is way easier to blame snowboarders and believe lies than it is to face reality and the concept of storm patterns at elevation. kind of like how its easier to deny global warming and blame it on the chinese, or whatever.
4. in the end i dont think much of this matters as long as we all come together as one to continue making fun of ski boarding, mono-skiing, and people in rear entry boots.
