Are they actualy any good. Ive been riding the stl's for a couple of years and i find them heavy and soft. Would the TNK's be the answer to my problems or should i go for some salomon thruster, foils or dumont?

ps: i like light skis and i ride alot of park

tnks are fucking sick. they aren't super lightweight, but they're significantly stiffer than the stls. and they're pretty wide underfoot. they have a super solid feel and i absolutely love them. definitely one of the skis i'm buying next year (they're offering it in a 180 now).

Although Ive never ridden the Anthem, i have ridden the Invader, STL, and TNK.

The TNK is like the Anthem, a wider and somewhat wtiffer version of the STL. It is a little heavier, but wider and stiffer too.

If you think the STL is too heavy...good luck liking any wood-core skis...STLs are some of the lightest around. The TNK is a sick ski that would kill it for anyone who wants a park specific ski that can still ride some pow.

I just recieved a pair of 06/07 Surface Watch Lifes in the mail today. Although I obviously have not ridden them, they seem to fit the bill for what you're looking for. They're really (amazingly) light, and quite a bit stiffer than your typical noodley park ski (STLs, AR5s)... but they still feel soft enough to be somewhat forgiving.

2006 ar5's are not noodles at all. i found them pretty stiff.

i am 6'3 and 180, and mounted them 2 cm back.

idk if its me but they def. are not noodles.

That's actually really strange to hear. I've been riding AR5s for 3 seasons now, and, although they have worn in, they are, and always have been noodles. I had assumed this may be because of my size (6' 170), but your comment negates that theory. Then again, I'm riding 04/05s, so maybe the design change accounts for some of that difference in opinion.

I've only flexed STLs, and they seemed softer than the AR5s, but not by much. Compared to the Surface Watch Lifes (which I do not find to be TOO stiff), both the STLs and the AR5s are extremely soft. The Watch Lifes, I'm hoping, will fulfill my need for a stiffer and lighter park ski.

i got a pair of the 08 tnk's when i was in whislter. i rode them for three days. I love them. the are sorta middle of the road as far as weight and stiffness.

they are friggin awesome as far as riding goes. the feel soo stable and comfortable. they dont have much sidecut, so it is basically impossible to take off wrong setting a spin.

however, for just normal all around riding, they kinda suck. idk, maybe it was the snow, but they just didnt want to turn.

i love them, and i actually like them a little better than stl's in the park.

Theyll be lighter, but Salomons foam core skis (SPK, Thruster) will probably wear out in a season. Depends how long you want to keep your skis. The Dumonts are wood core now, and are probably a little bit heavier.

sounds like the TNK will be a good choice for you. they will be a little stiffer with a lot of pop, if you are riding a lot of Park then def TNK they are more park than the STL, and you gotta to 4FRNT over the others
