TNK, PC or Reno Jib

yes, I have a problem deciding what I want, but I have it down to these three. I only care about jump and pipe performance since I'm sure they will all work on rails. It'd be 181 jibs, 176 or181 PCs, 180 or 175 TNKs. I was thinking about the 175 TNKs because they are almost a pound lighter than the 180s, which don't sound too light(180s are 9lbs, 175s are 8.2), so I was wondering how much stability was lost from the 180 to 175, and how much easier it is to spin the 175s. Also if I get the TNKs or Jibs they'd be 09, which didn't have the durability problems both 08s did. Thankss

the pipe cleaner is probably one of the sickest park skis ever. the jib is a really fun poppy ski that has a great jump performance. and it is slightly wider giving a little more stability. and 4frnt makes bad skis. the TNK especially, so unless you're getting a great deal, don't bother.
PC or the Jib would be great skis. but I'd go with armada, just because of the durability. moment makes a rad ski, but they've had durability problems in the past. I found them both online for about $375...

I'm gonna keep on shamelessly promoting Pipecleaners. They are the best park ski I have been on, Armada makes quality skis and their warranty people are legit. Mount them at recommended or center if you really want to, but I have mine at recommended and they rip everything. Stable, poppy, stiff, and buttery in the tips. Plus you can rip down groomers at mach 10. Just take care of your bases and you will have perfect park skis, the edges can take rails.

As far as I know 4frnt did not change anything on the TNK, except the chip-resistant top sheet.

They will still peel like bananas.

thanks everyone.

and for the 09 TNKs, they used the kinds of edges with the bunch of T shapes inside to keep the edge on the skis, made it stiffer, and gave it the new topsheet. The only thing that is the same as 08 is the lengths and widths. Doesn't 4FRNT have Elan press there skis now? And I think it is the same with the Jibs, the 08s fell apart, so they re-did the materials and apparently it went better.

What length pipe cleaner do you have and what do you weigh? Any heavier people on the 176? and what is the weight difference of the two.

If you're talking to me, I've got the 176 and I weight about 165, 6'. I could have gone for the 181 but I got a steal on the 176. The weight difference is minimal too, i've played with a pair of both sizes unmounted. We carry 'em at my shop, and they hardly weigh more. They are really light to begin with. My pair has px12ti's on them and they weigh about the same as my old troublemakers with s912ti's on them. TM's and s912ti's are a super light setup too.

I wouldn't recommend TNK's. And Jibs are probably the lightest out of the three.

If your interested, I'm selling some used 181 Reno Jibs. Check my threads.

dont get tnks i have heard nothing but bad things about them.... go with the reno jibs, light, poppy, sick ski

not saying your wrong, but this could be it. from someone on TGR:

"4frnt skis are quality now. my EHPs are bomber. this year's skis are all made in the elan factory. i know for a FACT that backcountry dot com bought, sold, and shipped production samples so they could have 4frnt skis before other retailers"

so, maby just some 09s from backcountry? because the Elans Ive skied have been incredibly strong skis. Also might be getting Boomerangs mid next season if I can find them used(2010 elan pow ski) Not to mention the weight labeled on 4FRNTs sight is noticably heavier for 09s than it was for 08s, which made me think they used new materials. Anyways, sounds like PCs are loved by all though, so thinking those now.

Well everyone that I have talked to in 4frnt (reps, engineers) said the ski was not redesigned, and only a new chip-resistant top sheet changed.

4frnt thinks their edges work, so they are continuing to use them, which is the problem (I think, and most other people).

well thats good to know. That's pretty retarded of them... You'd think they would do the simple task of getting the type of edges pretty much all other park skis have after years...but guess not. Oh well, somewhat there loss too I guess
