Tips on tailpresses and nosepresses

I started trying them, I couldn't get them at all. wen your approaching the box should you hit it normally just to one side or should you hit it center and slide to one side as you move down the box.

also, which is easier?
 
preference, i think starting on the side reduces the chances of slinding off the rail on one side.
 
Normally it's easier to get on normal and then slide into the press. keeps you on the rail easier. I don't really know what to say is easier. It seems to depend on the rail. If you're on a 20 foot street style down rail then I"d say tailpress. If you're on a flat box then I'd say nosepress
 
jus get super comfortable with the motion of leaning forward and sliding...

i do nosepresses both ways. I find the better looking one to be when you jump on and land in a nosepress and just leeaaan like crazy over your toes. That's harder than jumping on normal and pushing it out into a press. I guess for a tip for those kind of presses i'd say when you get on, get locked for a second and then just kinda like kick back your feet and extend your legs, try and lock your knees. Lean over and you're set.
 
i was trying em on a down ledge today. they aren't really that hard. i came from the side, but further to the side then i would for just a regular slide, so you land like more on your tips. don't go too far to the side though, you want to start like landing with about your toe piece on top of the box/rail/ledge, and then i kick back and lock my knees like the other guy was saying. they are the funnest trick for me so far.
 
ya tailpresses are so much fun. how i do them is i get on the rail normal and just slide my feet forward while leaning back seat. it sort of feels like you sit down but there is no chair. i personally think that the presses when your already pressing when you get on look better but they are pretty hard. the easiest rail to do like a true nose press on is like an urban down. instead of jumping sideways onto it to get on normally just come up beside it and spin 90 degrees so the rail is just infront of your toe piece as if you were to hit a normal rail in the middle and then lean forward. but the way i leaned is just experimenting. just try what you think will work and it often does.
 
^ word, theyre ridiculously hard to get well but so damn fun when you do. of course i still struggle to get them nicely even on short flat rails but..
