Tips on Flats Spins

I've never tried a flat spin before other than on a trampoline but even then it was too side flippy. I'm looking to try it on snow today and any tips would be very helpful. ( I can already backflip on snow )

Learn how to do it on a trampoline. It will transfer to skis no problem.

Or just Big Air Dave it off the tiniest jump in your park on a cold and icy, windy day during the last run when there’s nobody around and hope you stick it. That’s what I would do if I were you.

Its very similar to backflip and lincoln you wanna go like a backflip but more on the side and look up in the sky on the right side and think of it like you go for japan that grab is perfect for the axis like like try to reach for it

Do a Lincoln loop with a Japan and they’ll come pretty naturally.

That would be a Lincoln loop Japan bub.

OP, do you want to learn true flat spins or a wackflip? Most people can’t do true flatspins. Learn rodeos first, then keep tweaking it until your feet don’t go over your head.

There’s a reason japans are easy when you’re doing flat spins and rodeos… maybe it’s because your body weight is shifted back during the trick. Thus why I said a flat spin would come naturally. But what do I know. I’ve only done them a million times?‍♂️

It’s important to look over your shoulder early, spot all the way through the rotation, and to get your hips up as fast as you can. Spot the ground off the shoulder that you’re opening up with

If you look at Henrik’s rodeos he thrusts his hips up to get his rotations more orbital, so doing that will help you keep them from being too flippy

also grab Japan or safety, helps a lot

Set at like a 45 degree angle (0 degrees being in front of you) with your hips similar to how you would for a backflip just on an angle, wait to get the full pop and then try to grab japan or safety behind binding, even if you don't get the grab it just helps get the axis. A slightly larger jump is better as if you have to chuck it to get around on a little jump its more likely to become more whack flip. Probably around the size of jump you would be comfortable laying out a backflip on
