Tips on cork 7

Haven’t posted in a couple years and it’s time to get back on the horse.

I am thinking of putting my fears aside and trying to learn the coolest trick known to man, the cork 7, finally.

For the foundation I can frontflip and backflip easily, do 5s pretty chill and have done underflips and flat 3s. I can easily cork 7 into water and even cork 10, so I think I can handle spinning and flipping and controlling it.

It’s just scary to me and I want to know anything that could help me not fuck up my collarbone. Haven’t sent something new on skis in a while so the mental block is back.

This thread is to keep me more accountable if I pussy out because I will hate myself

Hips foreword. Lots of people break at the waist causing them to do a shitty bio. Set should come from your hips and chest. Learn upright 7's first but basically set a 7 where you stay at the pitch of the jump rather than trying to stay upright. At 270-360 you wanna kick your legs over. Also don't crank your head around. The set comes from hips arms and chest, not your head. Looking to spot your landing is fine but you shouldn't be looking uphill while still on the ground.

ight ima try and explain this best as possible

if you can cork on tramp and you can commit fully you will get the rotation around no matter what

my first cork i was super nervous and freaking out and barely commited but somehow got it around, what helped me was a wide stance, dont carve for your first try, and act like there is a midget behind you you are trying to punch. If you can get the shoulder and hip rotation out of the way and follow with your head you will be chillin.

^^ this was my first cork attempt ever a few seasons back, was scared shitless but still followed through

^^ this is what happens when you don't have full confidence or commitment. First cork on a bigger jump and I ended up hucking it like a back full and then did not commit which sent me into d-spin. This has happened to a few people that I know and what will help you with this is not throwing down right as hard. It will put you into a flip rotation which you do not want.

Other than that just wait for a good day where you feel confident and you will get it around for sure!

I haven't done one in a very long time, like upwards of 6-8 years lol. I only had them locked in for a year.

Ultimately a few things in this thread seemed to be good advice. The one thing that seemed to help me was reminding myself to do these things.

force your ear towards your shoulder while setting your rotation, but do not toss your head back like you're setting a d-spin type thing. Try to set your dip thing to the side. Imagine that you are twisting your neck around to put your eyeballs to the tails of your ski. But without tossing your head back.

Ultimately wait till a day where youre really feeling it, spring slush.

Do a swag cork 5, feel it then huck the 7. You got it no problem, especially if you can do em on water ramps. AR AR
