Tips on butters?

Medium to fast, because you are going off a knuckle, the faster you are going the more hang time, but maybe not enough torque to spin

The longer ones over knuckles and rollers need some good pop and for me the butter becomes more of a drag than a press towards the end, unless you hang in the air and come back down into a butter.

go into a knuckle or roller with medium speed, start to carve in with lots of pressure in the front of your boots. when youre maybe 5 ft from the knuckle the angle between the knuckle and your skis should be about 30 degrees. at that point really put your weight forward by leaning over the front of your skis, doing a little hand drag helps. thats when the actual butter starts, and you want to be looking near the tip of your uphill ski. and by looking, i mean try to touch your nose to the tip of your uphill ski. when you get the apex of the knuckle and go weightless or airborne, look over your shoulder to spot the landing like a normal spin keeping pressure in the front of your boots the entire time. it always helps to land on edge for maximum steeze.

is it possible that you can be not heavy enough to do butters on certain skis because ive been trying for a while and i cannot butter for shit

i had this problem for awhile, try like jumping while pressing your noses into the snow, its two seperate movements, instead of approaching it like a nollie with early spin, try jumping and putting pressure on the skis

the way I do them is with a little pre pop. I dont just pivot and lean, but instead pop, turn about 120 degrees, and then make contact with the snow, and press and butter it from there. i usually end up with a little stall out at 180, and then another 180 from there. I prefer to lean with my torso; you get a bigger press, and i think it looks better than when you just kinda pick your legs up.

Here's a picture of one of my butters from last year. (please disregard the skittles costume. that embarrasses me.)

so that's midway through, and then from there, I sort of nollie, which rights my body somehow, and then land forward after another 180.
