Tips on butters, nose presses and tail slides

Commit so hard your balls explode. Half-assing a butter is miserable. Also, get enough speed. Lean forward and press them noses in.

HONESTLY! , skip a day of skiing the park! go and ski the mountain! learn how to use your edges for more than just switching up a rail!!!! learn how to SKI! carve backwards, learn how to butter through moguls and pow lines! practice nosepresses tailpressses on groomer trails, learn how to flex the shit out of your skis, then go back to the park and slay it! ive seen kids switch snow plow (pizza, no turns) into rails and even kickers... you have to learn the basics before you can shred the gnar

Tight boots are key.

Some people initiate their nose butters with a carve, others just pop a 180 and do the nose butter. Still some will do like a nollie thing and spin around their tips. What type of butter you're going for might depend on whether it's on an uphill, downhill or flat part of the slope.

Uphill butters allow for the greatest flex and corkage, flat butters are awesome when you can hold them for a long time. If you want to see a proper downhill butter just watch how delorme does it.

Butters into rails are worthless without proper flexage and are not worthy of the title butter so we refer to them as margarine. The greatest skiing abomination is definitely a switch tail margarine into a rail because it basically means you're a pussy who doesn't hit rails switch.

Switch Snow Plow! thats so sick. I am going to make this my signature move of 2015.

bring your center of gravity over the rail while sliding your legs and feet out from underneath you, keep your knees together, and make sure to control your skis. You have to be in control, not your skis or else the butter will take you out.

These two fucking nailed it.

Just go skiing outside the park a ton. It's all about edge control and strength.

Above all stay away from margarine!

Lesson 2

View attachment 742943

instead of focusing on locking in to rails, let yourself slide off the rail to either your nose or tails. get used to the feeling of riding the tips out nice and smooth. slowly progress toward putting weight into the press toward the end of the rail, the balance point will come as you figure out the flex of your skis, whether they or stiff or flexible.... once you figure out how much weight you can put into the skis, you will be able to lock into a press. then start the press earlier, and eventually lock straight into a press and ride it out all ganst like...
