Tips for shooting ski video on Canon EOS 600D

Hey guys,

Tomorrow is my first day shooting video on my Canon 600D, does anyone who has used this camera have any tips? I will be using a 17mm lens. Any tips would be much appreciated (+K), especially regarding maintaining focus on follow cams.

If you're shooting at 17mm shoot at around f8, it's the sweetspot and near enough everything will be in focus.
 
At the risk of sounding like a complete idiot, how do I set it to f8. I am using a 17-85mm lens but will be shooting at 17mm. Thanks in advance
 
Have you got video mode set to manual exposure? If you do you just press and hold the AV button(to the top left of the updownleftright buttons, it's where your thumb sits when you're holding the camera. So press and hold that, and scroll with the dial on the top.
