any tips to give me as i work on getting a 5. i am trying to get it over a 50 footer. i can three it easy but i just feel like i can spin faster and get that extra 180. ive landed a couple, but only due to accidental overrotation.

Dude, if you can 1 and 3, you can 5.

All you do for a 5 is keep your landing gear up for an extra second and keep looking in the uphill direction after the 3. Simple as that. Don't open up the landing gear too soon.

That's it.

if its a 50 ft jump and u cant sping 5, thats a problem. i personally think that they are easier than 3s on bigger jumps because you can spot ur landing more. just throw a little bit harder, spot ur landing and bring it around

good point.

Maybe you're not even lifting UP your landing gear.

Bring your legs up a little and rotate a tonne more.

50' is pretty big.

u have the ability, u just have to sac up and throw the first one.

after that ul wonder why u waited so long

Think of it as 180 more than a 360. And since 180's are sooooo easy then this should be easy. Dont listen to me, its retarded logic but it works for me.

For me what works is just thinking about throwing a really fast 360. Ive accidently spun past a 3 and landed a 5 quite alot.

ive done that a couple times but when i go and want to throw a 5 down i cant. thanks for all the tips.

bumpp

how bout 5's in the pipe? I can do 3's & alley-oops both ways but haven't tried a 5 yet. they seem easier than 5's off jumps

Yup just keep looking for that landing and keep those hips/shoulder/head going in the direction of your spin. It's really not that much more difficult than a 360, for me it's all about just telling myself I am going to do it and commiting to that extra 180.

find a smaller table and practice practice pratice, u sure it a 50

most tables are ushually about 5-15 feet less than they really are

don't even think of doing a 360

if you can do the 5's accidentally just spin with that speed and control your spin.

If you think about the 5 like a 3 and then a whipped 180 or a 180 to a 360 then it's going to look jerky. Try sticking some smooth 360's first and then spin a little harder.

well i got it. and to all you who questioned the jump size. it is actually like 45 feet. i used my skis to measure.

anyways i got it tho i just went off and hucked it. it was easy. i got like 10 540s down and then tried a 7 and got that. it was amazing. i only got like 4 720s though but they are so fun

go to a smaller jump(30ft.) and do 1's over it. you will get a better sense of air and be able to control your spins better.

thanks dude.

and thanks to everyone else for the tips and helping me progress in teh park.

this is my first year of actually spinning and trying new things, second year of skiing.

okay now that i have 5s and 7s down how about a 9?

what do you do for these? i know it is 180 more than a 720 but that seems so big to me.

dont think of doing a 3. if you think of that then you will probably do a 3 or do an over rotated 3, well idk about other people but thats what used to happen to me. if its your first time trying it then try to picture yourself doing it in your mind a lot and jst think of it as you watching footage of yourself or in first person, this might seem really retarted and wierd but thats how i started to do them. just pop and look over your shoulder and dont stop until you get the 5, and try to tuck it a little
