me and my friend worked on this vid for some time throughout the season and i made this video! if you have any tips or pointers id love to hear them

Solid edit. Some very insane tricks in there too. I'd say on the filming end of things shoot in manual mode so the exposure doesn't drastically shift mid-shot, it's prevalent in a lot of the shots. I like the groove of the edit, shot flow is nice.

Other than that my 2 general tips to anyone making edits:

1- Audio is everything, edit the audio as much if not more than the shots.

2- There is so much more to making edits than putting music over shots, shamelessly show that you aren't lazy and can do that.

I may be wrong but I believe the exposure change mid shots is due to him changing focal length physically by hand and he probably has a 4.5-5.6 lens which will always change exposure unless you have a lens that maintains the aperture through the focal lengths like the tokina 11-16 2.8

nothings worse than missing audio cause of MIC being off done that a couple times i was heated. I dug the song and alot of the stomps timed nicely, I always try to put the tricks to the music not other way around. Pretty solid edit I must say but if you're using premiere pro use warp stabilizer at about 5-10% smoothness and those shots will have no little shakes you'll love the look

thanks for the tips man! i will definetly try that stabalizer. i peeped your mid season edit you made, did you use a glidecam?? its really smooth i was just wondering because im gonna get one soon but idk what one to get

You win dog, not my style of edit but it's fuckin killer.

Just a stylistic preference, I like when for example when a 2 continuing 6 directly follows directly follows a 2 continuing 4. Progression is just pleasing.

yes sir I should change that link to a more recent video that I filmed with my glidecam 2000. I got it for 150 on here from someone you can find em online for around that though. Personally I have used the opteka steadyvid pro from amazon and got smooth shots when I only had a kit lens and no battery grip mic etc so it handled the weight. The glidecam 1000 is pretty much identical to that. but i would recommend the 2000 the new model hd 2000 just has nicer adjustment knobs, Same mechanics as the higher end models. the 2000 handles my mic my battery grip my heavy tokina 11-16 with filters on a t3i and its starting to get heavy but it floats very nice now. Here is an example of an edit I recently did. (Keep in mind they take ALOT of practice I have logged tons of hours off hill running and filming projects as well as on hill so it feels natural for me to hold it and ride. If you get one hold it fully balanced and ready for 10-30mins everyday just practicing framing and pans tilts smooth starts and stops etc. Good Luck! Message me if you ever need help brotha. could also be from using the kit lens and having it at 18mm f3.5, and then when he zooms in it has to change to f5.6

I know that but it was happening mid shot without zooming.
