Tips and tricks for a bum who bought a glide cam?

practice a lot. and practice more.

but really, get er balanced and just practice a lot. you don't even need to record to see how well you are doing

work out your flying arm (hand holding the handle). if you have to do a lot of shooting in a short amount of time, you're going to feel an epic burn

skiing isn't bad as you rest it every 20-60 seconds. doing 3 minute takes over and over is miserable

Glidecamming is a skillset. Don't expect your first couple of edits to be that great. My only advice would be to practice and film with it a lot

Practice, that's it. Glidecaming while skiing is way different than walking/running so really, you just gonna have to go out and fuck around. One tip I have while glidecaming skiing, dont be afraid to grip more with your glide hand. Skiing is pretty smooth already, so you can get away with more grip. For running/walking though, keeping the least amount of pressure on that glide hand is key.

Also when skiing (if you have a baggy jacket) hold it right away from your body. I keep on finding that my jacket cathces the bottom plate.

you can also turn the bottom plate sideways, I heard that it was supposed to help with something else too, but I can't remember now

You'll get good at skiing with it and think you're a boss.

Then you will try to use it on foot for a while and hate the world. A gimbal won't help when your hand is shaking from muscle fatigue after "glidecam event coverage."
