Tinting Out Cars

So I've never got it done before and I have a few questions...

How much will it run for a Land Rover Discovery/Land Rover LR2?

Should I go limo all over or will I get pulled over all the time?

What % do you suggest?

Should I just get the front two windows to match the stock tint of the back?

Here's the cars:

hmm i dont really know, my brother had limo on all his windows and when he got pulled over for it he got arrested for possession it was super gay butttt...his car looks lik shit without tint, im no help.

well i wanted limo in the back and like 20% up front so I wouldn't get rolled all the time. i have a cop buddy who can sign off the tickets, but i'm usually in possession of something herbal 85% of the time.

my old car had limo on all the back windows and a lighter on the two front windows and i never had a problem

the laws are different in different states. in some states, suvs and trucks can have blacked out windows, except the front ones. here in WA, the law says 35% for front windows is max. mine are 20%, only 15% darker than allowed. police havent bothered me once. i would say do the same tint all the way around, it looks better. 20% is pretty dark for the day, and basically black at night. its hard for me to see when reversing, so i am glad i didnt go any darker. for all that glass on a land rover, i would expect to pay $500. unless you have a friend doing, you wont get a decent job for less.

I did 20% on the back half of the car and then 35% on the front windows. It looks great and transitions from 20% in the back to nothing on the windshield.. I think it looks weird when the whole car is limo and windshield has nothing.

i have 15% on all my windows but i just matched the back ones. i've never been pulled over for it so i dont think its too big of a problem. one of my friends has limo (5% i think) on his whole car and he hasnt had any trouble with it yet but im sure he will eventually. personally i say just get your tint matched ot the back windows

usually 15-20 will match the back. limo tint is 5% and is verrrry hard to see out of if its not lit to well.

i have a landrover freelander and i had 35% up front and 20 in the back bu i didnt like it, i thought the front wasnt dark enough, so got it changed to 20% all the way around, i love it people ussually cant see me when im driving especially at night and you can see in the back seat or the very back unless you cup your hands.

i say 20% all the way around, and if you have a Navi like i do make sure you ask for the special tint so it will still work, i think its called grey stone

just get 20% all the way around((assuming thats what your back is)) it looks the best if its all the same

and definately dont go limo if youve got tree on you a lot dude thats just asking for trouble

ive had 20% for a year all the way around and havnt had a problem. but are cops really more prone to search your car just for having tints, what is there grounds for doing so?

there is 2 ways to measure tint, vlt which stands for visible light transmisson and i cant remember the other one. around here you cant have more than 2.5 vlt on the front side windows, no tint on the windshield i dont know why youd want it tinted, and what ever you want on the rest. around here you will be pulled over all the time and checked if you have anywhere near 2.5 on the front. ust learn your local laws

it should cost you about 250 bucks probally more

Generally cops have to have a warrant to search your car.

If you get pulled over because of tinted windows, and the cops want to search your car you have the right to say no because there wasn't probable cause. If they end up searching your car and finding something after you did NOT give your permission, there's a good chance your case can be thrown out due to unlawful search and seizure.

ye i wouldnt understand y tinted windows would be criteria for a search, thats totally bullshit, with respect to the law. obviously ur gonna be more suspect to anything but they still have no reason.

you can buy a kit and do it yourself my friend did it to his truck and it turned out great go to like a car shop and check it out

Ight I've decided to just get the front 2 to match the back stock tint (not sure what this is probably 20%?). How much do you think 2 windows and a tint strip on the windshield would be?

If you get limo you WILL get pulled over, plus your fucked when your trying to back up at night... you can see shit

im not sure mine didnt come with any tint so i started fresh, but they should have a meter to tell how dark it is,

and for all those people who say that your gonna get pulled over, ive never gotten pulled over for it, only for speeding and they didnt say a word about it. tint is a secondary offence, so that means that you cant be pulled over becuase a cop thinks your windows are too dark, you can get a ticket on top of it if your caught for speeding or some other primary offence, but ive only heard of this when the kid was a dick when he got pulled over

In Ontario 35% is the legal max on the front. But on the back you can do w/e. Ussually cops wont bother you if you have a 15 or so. Wouldn't go any lower than that. Especially if its a black car.

there are laws for how dark it can be... i would say 100-150 for all windows... dont have the back ones way darker it looks funny get them all the same or maybe jsut a tint ot two darker in back...

Nope, due to the mobile nature of a car it usually falls under the category of an exigent circumstance, AKA if the cop didn't search the car, the evidence would easily be removed before a warrant could be obtained.

Sorry for the old thread bump, just researching experiences in other states and thought I would quell this myth :)

ive had limo on my 98 explorer for 2 years and drive by tons of cops and never have gotten any shit for it. and i live in the ghetto
