1. Use an intervalometer to take a sequence of still photos.
2. Import still photos into image sequence using Quicktime Pro.
3. Export at full resolution as video file.
4. Keyframe the movement in an NLE.
Using stills is crucial because they are much higher resolution than HD video (which is only about 2 megapixels). Since the stills are ~8 times the size of your HD video, you can zoom in and animate movement without losing any image quality (up to a certain point of magnification, technically speaking).
