Time lapse questions

I have recently started doing a ton of time lapses with my t2i, and I have a few questions about the settings to use when recording them.

I use the "M" setting on the camera, and set the aperture/shutter/iso to my liking and to the light meter. However, after I load and compile all the photos, there are random shots with flashes i them (not from car headlights).

I just wanna know what to do to keep my photo's at a more consistent lighting setting and how to avoid these annoying flashes

can u clarify what u mean by flashes? it may be glares from car headlights in the distance or something like a piece of dust on ur lens thats catching light. is that kinda what u mean?

you have your camera to auto white balance change it to custom or a preset and you won't get the flashes

another question: how should i shoot a sunrise?

I shot one this morning and i figured that since the lighting changes so much, i could use the auto setting. This created a sequence with terrible consistency.

what should i do for situations when the light will constantly be changing?

both opening shots are sunrises. just basically you need to shoot 10-20 mins before the sun will actually rise. your settings should appear to be really dark at first, but the sun rises quick and brightens quick. i can't tell you specifics because its different in every situation. definitely trial and error with sunrises/sunsets

So you still keep the same settings and just let it go from underexposed to properly exposed, and guess how much it's going to change so that it's properly exposed when the sun's up?

exactly. trial and error. its pretty much a gamble too, which makes it that much better when you get it right
