Timberline Public Park

idk when its moving, but you cant ski from the public park to the lift anymore. you have to hike the park or walk ~1/4 mile back to the lift. theres 1 jump and 8 rails/boxes i think

haven't been in a few weeks, guessing the mile is far from being lapable? we were hiking like 3 minutes last time i was there

its pretty shitty right now. one small jump and about 6-8 rails. word on the street is that they might not even move it up to palmer this year.

Yeah I heard it's possible they wont even move it up this year. If they do, its usually early August when HCSC ends. For now, its a looong walk to the bottom, you're best to just hike it.

it would be cool to just buy a park pass or something for $15 (proceeds go to the park crew for maintenance) and hike up there from the lodge, because its not really worth a $60 day pass for a couple lift rides.

you definitley can. best to take the back road and not hike right up the snow though or else theyll make you buy a ticket.

I haven't skied since early June, was there this past weekend, worth it.

I was happy to pay for the ticket, they build and maintain a park to ski in JULY.

"read that last sentence again you spoiled honkey's"

Plus if you go to the top of palmer and fuck around with the pole-jams on the side of the pub lane, jump the mid-mtn cat track, and hop over rocks and stuff, you've had some fun turns by the time you're at the pub park. Then I'd a hit a few rails, hike the jump a few times and go do butters on the bumps on the way back to the lift-trail. then comes the horrible 5 MINUTES OF HIKING everybody seems to be bitching about. Good skiing involves hiking, duh. Then when the day is all done, go build a feature somewhere so your day is extended from 2:00 to 6pm or later. My thoughts coming off the hill were, "fuck, that was aweome" ... not "I spent $60 for that?"

Holy shit reading that just got me so stoked. I'll be there monday through wednesday next week and I could not be more excited.

You sir, have hit it spot on.

The move to HCSC lane in middle of August all depends on how much snow we have to access the area. There is no real point in building a public park in that zone if you can't lap it. The handle tows get taken down, and if you can not get out the bottom of the park back to Palmer there is no real point. We will look into in the coming weeks but we take it day by day. Be sure to check the Timberline Freestyle page for updates and real time info on the park. http://www.facebook.com/timberlinefreestyle

If thats the case then I would completely agree with you, I had heard recently of "20 minute hike" and "1 jumps and 3 rails", which just doesn't sound true. Park was POPPIN earlier this month though, probably not quite the same anymore but still good when you look at the big picture.

haha theres no way its still a 5 minute hike. i was there in early july riding public and the hike to mile took atleast 10 minutes. a 20 minute hike sounds way more accurate.

Can anyone who's been to hood in the past few days give an update on the current condition of the public park?

12 hour drive and i'm chilling in boise, should get to timberline by 1 tomorrow. So fucking stoked to take some laps!

Im guessing he means moving public to the high cascade lane which means yes lapable park including jumps. probably wont be huge but it'll probably be fun

i can dig it, that's what i was hoping for since last august was so sick, i just remember some serious pessimism from the park crew (or someone equivalently legit) in an older thread that suggested skiing out of the high cascade lane would be a no-go by the time august rolled around. fingers crossed t-line keeps the dream alive into labor day though

Yeah that was me. Around a month ago we were loosing about 15 inch a day and I thought that by next week we would have very little snow left. Its looking like we have some snow left so we are going to make the push to put a park in HCSC lane. It wont be some huge park but it will be lap able. And that's the goal. If it makes it till Labor day is going to be the next challenge.

I was just there for the past three days and it was awesome! Public park is fun and the Windells park was awesome as usual! And the hike is really only 5-10 minutes to the Mile unless your a bitch. Can't wait for the park to move up. Timberline Park Crew is killin it this summer!

The new upper park might be finished by Tuesday afternoon, but it will definitely be open by Wednesday. This is from the mighty park crew themselves.

YES, please keep us posted on whats there for features, I'm heading down from Seattle this weekend and I'm already getting stoked. fingers crossed for enough snow left for a decent lappable jump line

1 small-medium jump and 4-5 rail features, and more is on the way (my guess is another jump and a couple rails) Park crew will be steadily adding/upkeeping as long as the snow lets them.

ahh, that would be interesting...last summer it was skiers left of palmer where high cascades other park was (the one with the wall ride, crazy jibs, etc)

You're probably right then, I haven't been to tline when they had a park on palmer since like 2007.

1 ~20 ft jump, 1 hip feature, 1 quarter pipe, 1 flat box, 2 down rails, 2 donkey dick down rails. I had a great time, and I definitely wish I could have skied for longer (I only skied wednesday and thursday)

definitely would recommend it, i was there all weekend and the park was SO FUN. the mondo sized hip can be taken straight over if you straight run from the first jump giving you a ~35 ft super poppy awesome true table. plus the shwacky natural QP on the side of the rails, and butter pad at the bottom are sweet. just overall great flow for slushy hot laps, BIG UPS T-LINE PARK CREW!!!
