Nik Wallenda is going to walk across the Grand Canyon on a tight rope with no nets or safety devices of any kind. It is going to be on Discovery Channel on Sunday at 8pm EDT. The section he will be crossing is 1500 feet above ground, tallen than the Empire State building.

I don't know if that embed will work. If not here is the link:

That is just a taste of what the Grand Canyon will look like.

he is definitely going to have a safety link with a carabeaner. He did the same thing when he crossed NIagra Falls. They built it up saying no safety devices.

u sure about that?

i currently live in Northern Arizona, and its been windy as fuck. 2 new wildfires in the last 3 days. If 40-60 mph gusts continue, there's no fucking way. On that note, me and a few friends might go try to watch in person since its supposed to be a live event.

One of my best friend's family company is manufacturing the wire for that stunt. They also made the wire for the Niagara Falls one. Its called O'Connell Electric. I just think its pretty neat having an inside look at what goes into making a stunt of this magnitude happen. Good luck to him, glad he won't be pressured into wearing a safety harness this time

His grandfather died doing highwire, there's no way that he'll die too. It'll be interesting to see if he actually goes through with the no safety cable.

with the niagra falls thing didn't they refuse to show it live if he didn't wear the safety wire? i feel like they'll do the same this time, i mean on the off chance he does fall and die they really can't show that on tv

yep that was the case. Chances are last minute they will put in a safety wire. If he goes no safety wire, I'm sure there will be a 10 minute or so delay, just as with the skydive from space, so that in the case he does splat they won't be showing it.

Yeah the main difference between this and Niagra is that they are letting him not use a harness or net. The article I read said there will be a 10 second delay on live tv so he doesn't splat for us all to see. Hope the winds die down
