Thule Roof Racks

my friend does, works excellent, you can put like 10pair of skis in there, but they put like 4 pair and a bunch of luggage if they are going on a trip-btw they use thule

Thule makes good stuff, ive never had a problem with anything thule.

I have however had multiple yakima locks seize and if i didn't have the core puller thing it would have been a rail pain in the ass

aight sounds good. yeah seems tite for putting all ur gear so u have more leg room or storage room or watever

The boxes are pretty expensive, if you buy a thule one....check out sears they sell the same exact box without the thule name on it for 100bucks cheaper.

mines a thule, either will work, thule is a little cheaper. They mess up your car, my paint has faded and chipped from leaving it on/taking it off and on, but overall I like it. Also it increases noise and decreases gas mileage, but I put mine on again this year cause it still helps.

it sucks if you dont have bars already on your car or even a drip edge because just the 4 little tower things are like 100 bucks

cant you just attach them to ur roof rack on ur vehicle if you have one or do you need to put something else for it to attach too?

im pretty you can if you have it but i was going to get one for my car witch is a sedan with no factory rack or anything and it was going to cost a lot

LET ME WARN YOU THEY EAT YOUR GAS MILEAGE. Get the bars where your skis and boars are exposed, way smoother quiter and fuel efficent ride.

Actualy, the gas milage ends up being about the same between the roof box or the clamp style mount ski racks.

Thing that sucks about the clamp racks is that your shit gets salt all over it whhich is horrible for your gear.

And most of the boxes come with adapters that will fit MOST factory racks, just check the fit list and it will tell you. The main constraint on it is the weight capability of the factory rack.

Get the roofbox if you can afford it, they are far beter and more versatile overall.

i have a thule box. it kills gas, and i ran it into the roof of our garage once, but they hold up and theyre better than clamps cuz tthey keep road salt off your bases, which causes wicked base burn.

correct me if im wrong, but if you clean/wipe down your skis after you get home, wouldnt that negate any salt damage? and save you money with just getting the rack, and foregoing bad gas milage?

i've got a thule clamp-style rack with the thule fat mouth universal mounts. so basically i can put the rack on any car with roof rails and crossbars.

The salt literaly eats the wax out of the pores of your skis. So it does damage them, albeit not permanetly.

And the gas milage difference between a box, and the roof bars on any car i have driven has been a difference of 1-2mpg either way.

i've got a rocketbox and its perfect. fits so much. sure beats the hell out of cramming skis in your trunk or laying them across the seats when your van/car is already packed with people.

yeah man, it's always ideal to wax up your skis before storing them for the winter and then scrape it off when the next ski season hits.

yea, I have a yakima set up on my subie. I like it cause the bars are round, so it works better for my 'yak rack. and the box clips on and off easier. I don't leave it on, just put it on when I'm going to the hill
