Throwback Graphics

So I just got done watching some older ski videos and it made me think back to how incredibly awesome the graphics back in the day were. Personal favorites were the yellow 1080's and the red and yellow scratches. I think it would be real sweet if they took the newer technology on skis and printed the old graphics onto them, it just seems like too much effort is put into the artwork anymore.

maybe in another 10-20 years after all us park rats are faced with a mid-life crisis and need to seek some relic from our youth to make us feel young again.

but right now it's too soon.

have you seen the new k2 extremes? the replacement of the public enemy? so baller. They should do the poacher next year!

it was around the same year as the original 1260 (or the year before) only available to team members.

first twin tip made by k2, if not anyone! the idea was that you were "poaching" the terrain park, as many were considered snowboard terrain only.

maybe you know this, but ar7s are coming sooner than you think, next season maybe... i have seen the prototypes. they look fatter than the ar6.

K2 actually sold it in 1997. First modern twin tip ski on the market. Two years before the 1080 hit the shelves and three years before the LINE 1260. It wasn't just for team members, first year had the retro woody style topsheets like the El Camino's, next year they were stealth looking with black and red. The year after, they were called the Pipeline. That is the same year the 1080 came out.

I actually saw someone at squaw the other day with the old yellow salomon twintips, as in the very first ones. The graphics sucked but it was cool to see a blast from the past.

The ar7's have already been built...before the ar5's :P

If rossi threw down that old school red/yellow babe graphic, i think i'd have to splurge and get a pair...man were they dope!

at the hill where i ski there is this old local dude that ALWAYS seems to be there and he has the original 1080s, i was stoked the first time i saw them, i wondered if he new of thier significance to so many people.

Those K2 Extremes are sweet (at least the graphics)! I probably like them because I always wanted a pair of the K2 Extremes when I was a kid. Hopefully they turn out to be a solid ski--I'd love to rock those next year!
