Throw out your nalgene bottles

Danner is right, this isnt new news. After long term use the plastic used in the newer (meaning clear, or colored clear hard plastic) releases toxins into whatever liquid your drinking.

I've chosen to take my chances with it though, i guess i just like to live dangerously.

Oh, and another thing. The Sigg bottles are nice, but arnt nearly as useful as Nalgene's. You can see into a Nalgene, which is useful for odvious reasons. Additionally the widemouth bottle neck allows you to mix food in it if your out camping; it really is the all in one meal utensel.

Im not hating on Sigg's, they're superstylie and tough, i just dont think they're as functional.

a kid at my school put rum in one and brought it to school and we all shared it over lunch. twas friendly.

those dent so effin easily.

yea iv heard the studies about the bottles, but seriously, its true with anything, im sure metal bottles can leak stuff into your water, and really...if your not gonna drink from a plastic nalgene, what are you going to drink from. and just dont stick it in the dishwasher dude, its not that hard to clean. you just threw away 8 bucks of goodness.

ye i have one of these high altitude water bottles and they are sweet. But they dent really easily all over the place. Once u bang it on something it leaves a mark but i dont really care

Who puts their nalgene bottle in the dishwasher? The water can't hardly get into the bottle in the dishwasher. You gotta use a bottle brush.

what are you fuckin serious? i really do not believe you, i whipped it at a brick wall from 4 stories high at my school then it fell four stories and hit concrete and still wasnt broken few scratches though thats about it

ive have 3 bottles completely covered like this one i have wasted too many a ski sticker to just throw them out

Why the hell would I spend the effort making up such a stupid story? they were odd drops, right on the top. I've dropped mine and thrown mine and tried to run it over with my car, but if you drop them on the right place, they'll crack around the mouth. One of them was this kind; dropped it right on the top of the circle on the top:

those are supposed to be for fuel, but the advantage of them is that you can wash them out after and use them as water bottles. Problem is that they aren't the strongest things in the world and they get dented easily (compared to nalgenes)

ya, I got so excited about breaking my 8 dollar nalgene bottle that I rushed home and took pictures and then saved them on my computer for 6 months just so I could show NS. The bottle broke, right where the top screws on. Beleive me or not, I really don't care.

I dunno if anyone else drinks out of these but I drink out of what we call around here...CUPS. If you have never heard of a cup look it up. They work just as good as Nalgene bottles.

haha they arent bullshit. Just look at them.

* Accelerates corrosion and breakdown of electrical equipment; -rusting

* Excessive ingestion may cause various unpleasant effects; -drinking too much water

* Prolonged contact with its solid form results in severe tissue damage;- frostbite

etc.

actually all of those are true. Expect it is incorrect to call it "hydroxyl acid". It does not follow the correct nomenclature for acids.

they arent indestructable, i remember breaking one after football, but it took alot of trying. and i dont have one but i wouldnt throw it out if i did

No...i will keep mine, and wash it by hand. These bottles are pretty much Bomb proof. I have had mine run over by my truck, frozen in the snow, dropped from a chair lift. Anything man. I would say, just don't put plastic shit of any kind in the dishwasher. I think they even say not to heat it up, or put it in the dish washer.
