THREDBO MOUNTAIN HELP!!!

So for next summer I have to do a practicum for University.(in an outdoor recreation management program) I have been looking to at ski resorts in australia and new zealand. I have been thinking Thredbo is the place. I'm looking for any information people that have been there have to offer. Places to stay, good jobs, people to talk to, how much stuff costs, if its good? any opinions or info are greatly appreciated. thanks guys!

post this in regionals man you'll get a better response that way

99% of this website wouldn't have a clue what thredbo is

There are a couple of NS members who work for the various resorts, including thredbo

Australia has some of the most expensive life tickets in the world when compared to the quality of snow - AU$100 per day - i guess the exchange rate would help you a bit.

Ski town prices are almost relative all over the world..so yeah it is expensive to live there, but it's a good place.

Resort operations would be good to talk to - contact via the website. They take applications from around February i think, and that is to start around june/july.

Due to the inconsistency of our snowfall a lot of the mountains will operate on skeleton staffing and then increase the number of workers as snowfall increases, so there is an issue with reliability

Usually people from Sydney will be on call and then wait at home until they are needed.

But yeah..post this in regionals. There is also an Aussie cult which i've invited you to, although being summer here, it's fairly inactive.

Look into perisher as well. More staff so a bit more chance for work Perisher is higher to which can improve reliability of snowfall. Also living in jindabyne will be cheaper than staying in the resort of thredbo. im guessing. Maybe look into buller or mt Hothem as well.

Agreed. Jindabyne is cheaper to live

Thredbo has the advantage of being a ski village with accomodation either on snow or a few minutes, whereas perisher is bigger, generally more reliable snow but you have to travel every day

Agreed Jindy is cheaper but still has a party life.

Threbo is a long drive from Jindy though.

If as the guy above said you check out Buller I konw some people that could probably help you.
