I need some help...
To those of you who read Voltaire's "Candide"...
My eccentric English teach gave us this take home test.
The assignment is to write a literary analysis on "Candide"...
However, her prompt is as follows:
View Pearl Jam's music video for "Do the Evolution" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SvqoF-uhQnQ); read the lyrics.
Consider Voltaire's satire and Vedder/Gossard's satire of man's evolution.
Where in "Do the Evolution" do you see a connection with Voltaire's perspective regarding:
The Garden of Eden/original sin
prudence
religion
war
any character(s) in the novel
I have many thoughts on this... but I can not seem to organize them. Insight would be greatly appreciated... hate would not.
Thanks NS!
