Thoughts on the new marker bindings?

what do you all think? They kinda seem like the old line bindings with-out the plate witch would be a sick concept!
 
All the reviews and feedback Ive seen say that they are great. Hopefully not like reactors at all though...
 
they are a solid binding, but if weight is a concern of yours, then forget it.

i will be getting the duke for sure, i need an AT set-up.
 
Wrong. No pivot. No reactor technology at all.

From what I've heard, they are solid, but I want to give them a season or two on the open market before I decide one way or the other.
 
What are they supposed to be priced at? I really don't see people deferring to Ross/Look in return for a Marker. Even if quality is the same, people will still buy rossy/look over Marker.
 
I think the Duke is sitting right at $500 retail, and the Jester is less, not sure how much less...maybe $300? Can't remember off the top of my head, it's been a couple monthes since I looked at the book.
 
I'm going to try it before I make my choice, but it's new/a change, so I'm up for it. Either way better things will come out of it.

dude thats what marker says ^ that they pivot - but that bieng said i still agree with the rest of your statement
 
I was sceptical at first, this being marker of course, but everything I have heard about the Duke is that it is as good or better than the hype. Which is staggering. Some people say they will never need another binding, for alpine or touring. I plan on picking up at pair at the end of next season, first off seeing how durability plays out and to save on price.

From what I understand, the Jester is a slightly lighty version (no plate underneath with the walk-mode) but otherwise identical, leading me to believe this will be a solid 16 DIN binding. It and the STH 16 will probably be fairly close competition.
 
Has anyone actually seen these in person? I'm just curious because after looking closely at the pictures on proctorjones I realized that they are either photoshop renderings or renderings out of a 3D modeling program.

i rode them at a demo at the end of last winter. didnt really have a chance to push them hard but they seem solid. if you are looking for an a/t binding id definately take a good look at the dukes. i didnt have skins with me so i didnt tour around in them but from talking with the reps and checking them out they seem like they might be worth the hype
 
word on the streets is they are releasing a new binding next season that will start at 229 or so. its supposed to have the same small footprint but has aluminum or some other metal instead of whatever it has currently that brought that price up so much. any heard anything about this yet?
 
if anyone want some close detailed pics, my jesters are currently not mounted due to the snappage of my skis. i could take some photographs

I'm curious if the heel actually does pivot, I've heard different stories, and I know the Duke doesn't, sooo.....
 
I put some skis with jesters in a vice, and put a boot in it, and tried to see if the binding would move a little bit like all other bindings do, but that was not the case with the jesters. I was getting my boot to bend and flex in ways that I had never thought it would go in, and the bindings didn't move at all. I'm getting a pair of them off shop form over the summer, so its not gonna be that expensive. They are also lighter than any other marker 14 din binding.
 
all marker bindings (except duke and jester) are approved pieces of shit. they pre-release like none other and are horrible pieces of ass
 
The metal comp 14 and 20s are bomber. andy and pep ride em in Idea.

ALso the jester and the duke are unchanged for next season. There is a lighter weight, lower 12 din, and more plastic version of both bindings coming out called the griffin and the i cant remember the little duke version.
 
^^I dunno man, the biometric toe piece is screaming torn ACL

and the new duke is called the Baron, it's replaced useless metal parts w/ plastic, the din is lower, it's .3 pounds lighter, and it's retailing at like 370
 
I believe that the biometric toes does a great job under normal skiing, but when you start jumping with them, they release cause the toes are built to release easily. The Comp series are the race stock bindings, they are metal, and designed to not release unless absolutely necessary.
 
Yeah, I was just asking him to explain his reasoning, or if it was just something he heard about the biometric toe. The toe is actually a neat design with the entire housing shifting sideways for the release. Only real problem is that people seem to break them so much, I don't know that I've ever heard of someone being injured because of improper releasing.

But you're definitely right about the higher DIN comp series, they are very legit and solid.

I wouldn't have any qualms about riding them.

I dont understand how people can just look at something and say " oh it looks like those shitty ones, they must suck."
