Thoughts on The "new" Jiberish, and It's Direction. Add your thoughts or opinions, using supportive statements etc

**Please, if your gonna throw in a reply, please dont just shit on my grammar, etc, this is a Skiing forum and this is not a word processor they give us.. and contribute to the discussion, and back up your statements or thoughts.. dont just say something to be negative, or shut me or otheres down without a good reason and give insight or facts into why u feel that way..**

Im bringing this back to set the record straight. I still rock my old jiberish from 08-10, even up to 2013 etc. and im 27 years old! its not to childish or outdated! i wear it work, wear it on dates, wear it around the house, wear it to the mall, and i get mad compliments on that shit! When I wear the newer stuff no one says a damn thing because t looks like everything else! And i get more looks and compliments in my older jib like the boltastic, or jungle cat, or fittest than anything else i own! the shit is unique and different and stands out! that was Jiberish's ideals as a company back then!

The OG Jiberish is the company that i bought into. we the skiers, the broke ski bums who had just enough money to eat and pay bills living in breckenridges high priced tourist trap economy, would spend our last money to get the newest Jiberish and wait for it to drop so it wouldn't sell out. its us, the ski bum, skiing fanatics that brought them to where they are today. They forgot there roots in the style and nostalgia and exclusivity that made them who they are! the new Jib is still skiing sure, but not the focus that it once was. the new Jiberish is not exclusive.. they make so many of the damn product now they cant sell out on there stock. I don't get that feeling now when 5000 people got the same damn shit. and they are now selling the blacklist items in the store! not ok.. Its supposed to b for loyal supporters and its something that should make you feel like you earned it. now any average person can walk in and buy a blacklist item i had to work and wait to achieve! its because they cant sell there other items so make a buck of the few items that are good this year, the blacklist hoodies! you don't have to be a genius to know jib isn't what it once was.

The jib of old sold out in minutes, the new stuff is still in stock, and has been restocked several times (good bye exlcusivity) and they dont focus on the styles of the artists they used to love teaming up with! there vision was to not mold into the rest of the clothing scene, and conform, and they are built on a model of organic clothing, and aesthetic ideals and artistic creativity. The stuff they make now isnt designed by artiists! and they are following the trends that they said they wouldn't (supreme, Bape) and are now making stuff like everyone else! they used to be outside the industry making unique flashy, amazing pieces designed by artists! read this quote from them and you will see that it is not what they have lived up to. they forgot there roots, they forgot there founding principles. I don't care if you grow up! and your style changes! your clothing company was founded on whats in this quote in the photo. u cant just change it! and if you do make sure u stay true to the artists, the organics of it, and the goal to not conform!! THEY DID SELL out!

If it wasn't about the money Then why do they make so much quantity of each hoodie! THEY USED TO MAKE LIKE 20-30 PIECES OF ONE STYLE, NOW THEY RESTOCK EACH ITEM 3 TIMES A YEAR!

so this isnt a word processor, the tab key doesnt allow you to indent, and it doesnt really allow for you to write a easy article without taking years to do it. this was supposed to inspire a real discussion where people back up there opinions, all i see is u guys dont care enough to agree, or disagree so u shit on the way its written, last thing i expected.. if i knew skiiers were anal about there grammar i wouldve had a writer make this.. so i made it easier to read. if you dont wanna read, then dont read it, but at least contribute to the discussion, im curious to see if this has changed peoples opinions. and ya its brutal, and its sad...

they arent even close to there roots anymore with collabing with artists, and people who share there artistic creativity. none of there shit is creative. and at least i took the time to really say a idea, and support it.. and still no input on the black list shit...

is it a whole bunch of nothing because u cant udnerstand it? or u just realizing that thats not jiberish anymore.. Its a statement from a company about there background, and there drive and style.. its not a whole bunch of nothing, because the Jiberish creators felt it a good statement about there direction back then.. If your gonna say smething like that, please give your reasons why.. This Thread is about a good topic, but if your gonna say something to not just sound like a person trying to shit on everything please explain why u feel that way to contribute to discussion

Here's an easier version for everyone to read. Took 2 minutes to make this not a huge wall of text, if you want to create a discussion take some time to spell things out correctly and format it so it's not such a pain in the ass to read.

apparently You didnt see me go ahead and edit my original post, now u just threw a really long reply post in here.. as you were typing that i was editing. but i still would prefer you also contribute to this discussion. i mean, why bother helping me, i appreciate that by the way, but if your not planning on sticking around and being a part of the discussion, i dont see the point.. I would love hear some insight on your thoughts.

I also put that backing it up, so if you want to Shit on my opinion (its just my opinion to stimulate discussion) or state your opinion, you at least do what people do when arguing there case and give supportive statements etc.

I wrote this at 4 am so i wasnt in the mood to take time to go back through. i was gonna edit it after i got some sleep, and it has been re edited, sadly for new comers to the post, the beginning posts are all just people shitting on stuff like usual. And not one person has contributed to the discussion. Sad we will all state whats wrong with something, but never actually contribute to the actual thread..

Would love to hear your thoughts on this, this is why i made this thread. People always wanna say something but dont prove there point, or at least try to support it using researched supporting statements etc. Like when you go to trial, you say something in your defense, you need to have something to back it up. I take it you dont wear, or purchase, or follow jiberish? not making assumptions, but judging by how you just called the co founders of Jiberish, A bunch of Acid heads, because of there company statement. This is a great statement that sums up what there style was back then! it was organic, and they supported local artists, one of them was my friends brother. They helped artists get recognition, and collabed with them to allow them a free unrestricted medium to do there work. They didnt edit there style, or tell them no we cant put that on a hoodie. And they were right, they didnt conform to the "norm". They have strayed so far from this.. i wonder if they even remember making a statement like this. It was obvioulsy important to them because they ensured that it was put on a cool picture, and was hanging at the Denver Expo when the 08-09 line dropped. so i think you Kind of insulted the companies founders a lil by saying they "took acid drew in notebooks and thought they were brilliant"

This is why i never joined this site officially til recently.. If you dont care, dont read it, dont post anything. move along. I did this because i want to hear OTHER peoples opinions. people post shit here all the time where people dont care or dont have anything to say. Most people dont say anything, or they just shit on other people because negativity is the one thing this world isnt short on. There is no need to say something like that man. You didnt have to say anything at all, like that saying, if u cant say something nice, dont say anthing at all. Im curious as to what your opinion is Heath. And i know you have been a supporter of the company, so why cant we hear some of your thoughts on the matter. IF you dont want to contribute, i dont know why would have to go ahead and add negativity and try to be in a basic sense "mean" by saying no one cares. ill bet you a bunch of people care. Almost 300 people read this article. And not all responded. So your assuming no one cares, but i think you just wanted to be an ass. And i also made this topic because i read some shit where people are saying they are progressing, and moving forward, and are true to there roots and foundations as a company. That is not true, and at least i took the time to give good supporting facts, and a post of a picture with them explaining there companies morals and beliefs and direction..

Dude I was partying at the old jiberish store before you bought your first hoodie.

I like the founders, they’re good guys, but that little blurb/statement is just bad. It’s poorly written, corny and doesn’t make a whole lot of sense.

This thread sucks, man. I didn’t give my opinion on your 1000 word essay because it basically says nothing other than “man, jiberish used to be way tight, now they sold out and they’re not as tight”.

not really a compelling post or something that I felt the need to chime in on.

but, that little “mission statement” or whatever is pretty cringeworthy and I felt like commenting on that.

get a grip bud.

My thoughts on the subject are businesses change, continue to grow and update how they run things. Something staying the exact same way for 20+ years gets pretty stale pretty fast. Plus, people have very different ideas of what a company should be when they're in their early 20's compared to their mid 30's.

Moment started out as a super punk rock, "let's put ridiculously wild graphics on everything and make crazy shapes" company, and has grown to keep some of that original style while also growing as a company. Graphics and designs got a little more "professional" (for lack of a better word) while staying true to what the company meant to those involved from the beginning. It's something that I feel most can see if they look at the Moment from 2010 (https://issuu.com/momentskis/docs/momentskis_20092010_final_catalog_web) to the Moment of 2019 (www.mmntskis.com).

From my quick read of your OP, your entire stance is "I loved old Jiberish why isn't old Jiberish around anymore, how dare they change from the ideas they put forth over a decade ago". Because people change and the companies they run change. At some point, it gets very difficult to consistently come out with new, very limited styles. Long nights and quickly approaching deadlines year-round takes a toll on the entire staff at Jiberish, or any company for that matter. Sure, the blacklist thing might be a little out of place with how they're running it, but stuff changes and if you're not into it anymore then move on.

Jiberish is moving out from just the skiing industry, and to do so they have to change. While they were strictly in the skiing community, their main demographic was park rats, who don't exactly buy brand new, expensive equipment every year. At some point you have to make stuff that's going to create a steady income to keep the company afloat.

I was hesitant to provide my thoughts on the discussion because it seems like you put your opinion out there and are shooting down anyone else who provides a contradictory opinion. Complaining about how Jiberish has changed isn't going to bring back the old Jiberish.

There's spellcheck built into just about every browser these days and if you provide your stance in a concise and easy to read format you're going to get significantly better responses from people than if you just throw everything out there in a jumbled mess with an exclamation point at the end of every sentence.

i just mentioned it because i really get behind the support local movment! and im glad we got some good discussion here! ya ur probably right, u partied there when they had a store in 2010.. i bought my first hoodie at lohi in 2011. so i probably saw u at the parties. and yes they are great guys, i love feeling like family and thats the companies i get behind. The mission statement is on them man, they wrote that not me. so u can talk to them about that when u see em. Im just saying that when you stray away from your mission statement, which i totally love and got behind. cringeworthy isnt the right word to use. And if you dont get behind my "essay" then explain why and give me some valid reasons. cuz i gave abunch of valid reasons as to why i wont support the company anymore, and alot of people agree. I dont care if they are good guys, this isnt talking about how they are totally dipshits (and they arent) im talking about the Company as a whole, not the founders, have strayed away from the roots, and there beliefs and there loyal followers.. I dont see nearly as much ski oriented stuff or edits from them like the days of old.. Any thoughts on this?? since you seem to know them better than most people hre

Yes, they can. It's their company.

Thanks for the great info and insight. true that companies do need to change. and should if the material, product, demographs change. There old stuff never had a problem selling, ever. Sold out so fast if you blinked it was gone. The new stuff, they cant get rid of. Still in stock most sizes, most sale prices almost 75% off. Now let me ask you this? if a company changes, is it to suite themselves, or there customers?

A business first priority is its customers, then employees, then the owners/partners etc. If the old stuff was founded on a great business model (supporting local artists, Straying away from mainstream) then why have they changed with the industry? There statement clearly says they wouldnt conform and change with the "garb" that everyone else has been putting out. They didnt need to change with the industry, they were set apart and people (i loved) loved them for that. There styles were popular, not just with "ski bums" i know lots of older people, and have seen older people rocking lohi around denver. My dad rocks a average joe and a cobb crew (ya dad!) and loves the stuff. It wasnt just a ski brand, it was a lifestyle brand. Ya its there company and can change it. but if your gonna change it i think you need to be true to yourself with a change of branding, and also, dont just neglect the people, styles, and customers that gave you the opportunity to be in a position to have a chance for change. And if you do change, update some of the statements, ideas, and website shit like the Black List. And dont go around saying its exclusive when its not anymore (that is just dishonest and immoral at the most simplest terms).

And i dont see anywhere on here where i shut down anyones opinions or ideas? the first 10 posts were people talking shit, telling me to edit my "essay" in the most unnecessary terms. We are all community and share a common love of skiing, be nice to people. Your one of the first people to give good food for thought. I appreciate your post and comments sir

you sir are a judgmental ass. Im 27, and have grown up in a family business, and help my aging father run it. I also am going to school for automotive. Fuck you and your presumptive comments. If you got a problem with me or my opinions then stay the hell out of my post. U have made yourself look like a dick, and honestly if you said that to my face we would be having words in the parking lot. I can show you over 4 news paper, and magazine articles of my families business Koehnens interiors in Hilo, Hawaii. And the current business my father runs RohnersInteriors. rohnersinteriors.com. Check it out asshole. And if you want the articles on koehnens, i would be happy to load them up here for you.

Will i really care what u think. no, but do i care that you want to talk shit and destroy my thread, ya i care about it. You think im full of shit for just telling my opinion? You think im full of shit cuz i went to school in Colorado in 2010, and u think im lying about shopping at lohi? if your gonna throw out a vague sentence like that at least refer to what im "full of shit about"

Never thought that people would doubt I run a family business with my dad. Like why would I lie about that shit? What would be the point of making up something like that. Well I guess having haters is a good thing, people will stay say something about this photo, just don’t u dare talk about my dad in a bad way, he’s a amazing hard working man who Gave us a great life and provided for me and be Mom in so many ways! I can voice my opinion about small business cuz I grew up around one. And if u dont agree with my ideals fine, just don’t talk shit

Tons of new companies have this as a slogan. Look at almost any ski brand that's started up in the past 5-15 years. "We're different, we don't conform, we make stuff by X for X, not like the rest of those guys".

It wasnt just a ski brand, it was a lifestyle brand.

With my limited knowledge of Jiberish I'm fairly confident that they started as a ski brand and transitioned into a lifestyle brand, but I could be wrong on this part.

Ya its there company and can change it. but if your gonna change it i think you need to be true to yourself with a change of branding, and also, dont just neglect the people, styles, and customers that gave you the opportunity to be in a position to have a chance for change.

This comes back to people changing, both in how they view themselves and how they view what they want their company to be. Being true to yourself is nice and all unless you're only true to yourself from 10+ years ago.

And if you do change, update some of the statements, ideas, and website shit like the Black List. And dont go around saying its exclusive when its not anymore (that is just dishonest and immoral at the most simplest terms).

It seems like their website is pretty updated in terms of statements and ideas, it's incredibly minimal in terms of descriptions about the company and seems like a great progression from whats written in the image you posted.

Is the Black List not being exclusive anymore the only thing that bothers you about the situation? I don't have access so I don't know much about the program.

This thread is AIDs but I'll bite.

If you are complaining that a company doesn't have something you want why don't you get your thumbs out or you ass and make something you want to wear.

Its not hard to make a huge baggy ratty as shit looking hoodie and send it of to get a design printed on it. Who knows maybe you'll make something out of all this "business" knowledge you have.

you sir are a judgmental ass.

This reads like the Navy Seal copypasta

He's doing it again he's creating walls of text..

About the whole blacklist in stores thing, they only have two stores. That's still very rare and means only people in the Denver, and SLC/PC area can go to the store and buy the blacklist items. Also have you noticed the overall style of skiing has changed? No one wears 4XL skittles gear anymore. Not saying the old Jiberish isn't dope and that I dont have some OG pieces I still wear, but as a ski company they have to appeal to skiers..... I still buy a lot of stuff from Jiberish and with each drop they have a few items I think are really fresh. The quality of the clothing hasn't declined either, my Newschoolers jiberish collab hoodie hasn't had the slightest sign of wear on it and I've been rocking it since I was in 6th grade.

I’m gonna keep saying this til they actually do something about it, but they haven’t made a good hoodie since like 2013. Their new full cotton ones stretch out and suck to ski in. I still shred in my brothers of the blade hoodie and its an amazing, quality product. The synthetic materials are necessary for cuff elasticity. I still buy their tees every now and then but I’m gonna hold off on a hoodie til they make them right again. Idk if those were more expensive to make, but they were the only hoodies I would ever pay more then $50 for. The new ones I wouldn’t drop a dime on bc they wear like they have an expiration date.

Want to roll up the sleeves? Congrats, you just ruined the cuffs of your hoodie until you wash it, where it will inevitably shrink to a size that no longer fits you. This rant has absolutely nothing to do with “they were way cooler back in the day!!¡!” But rather it feels they have dropped in quality. I wish they would actually put some effort into the blacklist hoodies but I guess my brothers of the blade hoodie will have to do until the holes in the wrists from grabbing and falling get too big.

Id have to second this. I got a jiberish hoodie for secret santa a couple years ago "which I thought was 100% rad, not at all a diss on who got it for me" but now its no longer wearable. I havent even worn it skiing because the fit was weird. Short in the front, long in the back.

The hood strings have fallen apart, the cuffs are fucked, and its frayed along the bottom. I picked up a lot of older jiberish gear this winter and id definetly say there is a difference in quality.

This is the most sour thread I've seen on NS in my casual browsing in the last 4 years. Why is everyone so butthurt about everything imaginable. Jeez.

Will just leave this here.

**The stuff they make now isnt designed by artiists! and they are following the trends that they said they wouldn't (supreme, Bape) and are now making stuff like everyone else! they used to be outside the industry making unique flashy, amazing pieces designed by artists!

The exclamation points after every sentence make me feel like I'm reading a tweet from Donald Trump

Yeah I preferred the culture and pieces from 8 years ago, but they’re just clothes at the end of the day.

And they still make some cool stuff

PC boutique is gone homie. Another art gallery for Main Street PC. Denver is the only store.
