Thoughts on Subaru Baja?

Well, i am going to buy my first car sometime soon and I am looking at the Subaru Baja.Pros:

-Relatively cheap on craigslist

-4 seater pick up truck

-decent gas mileage

-the pick up trucks aspect for skis/snow/random shit

Cons:

-Looks weird/gay

-Pussy car

-Chick magnet, this is not

haha my friends tell me it's super gay, and say they wont ride with me if i get it... i think its kinda sick and unique.

Anyways... Thoughts? what are some other pros/cons?

 
It may be unique, but it is most definitely not sick. It's like a dyke wagon that got into a horrible accident with an El Camino and then something barfed on it.

unless the price is free+2 years insurance covered I would never be caught dead in one. get an old outback or audi with quatro (Assuming you want/need 4wd or awd) if you want a car, get an old ranger or toyota pick up of you want a pick up. that thing is just the drunken love child of an outback and a hacksaw.
 
I may sound like a dick but I have to agree with your friends.

The truck bed is so small you can barely fit groceries in it, i know my skis wouldn't fit in one of those things. I wouldn't even call it a truck. The only pro i see in it is the AWD feature. Just my opinion so no hate.

Maybe if it's all blacked out it could look cool. Throw some offroading lights and beefy tires on it too.

 
An older outback or forester would be a good option. If you can deal with the worse gas mileage you could look at 4runners or xterras for an suv.

Be patient when you are buying a used car. There is probably a reason why you found one for cheap. One of my good friends back in HS had a Baja. It was nice if you sat in the front seat and it's going to be reliable. We had some fun with it, but it isn't an amazing car by any stretch of the imagination. There are better cars out there.

I like how you stated your impressions of the car using pros and cons, but what do you want from a car? If you give us a your objectives in a car, we can definitely give you some arguments for and against certain cars.
 
get whatever you can afford, honestly your not spending your life in the car. And maybe girls around you will like it? As long as it gets you to wherever then its fine. Or just look into cars that look normal if you are so self conscious, or car conscious (?)
 
you cant fit skis/ anything useful in the 'bed' of that thing, pointless.anything you can put it the bed you could put in the trunk of an outback.

not to mention its the ugliest car you see on the road.
 
I still think the Pontiac Aztec is the ugliest car ever.

Thank god for Breaking Bad, now I just think of that show when I see one instead of vomiting.
 
Only reason I would own one is to shuttle bikes with and still have a Subaru. But even then, fuck, just get a real truck.
