Worded that poorly. What i meant was, if I'm on the desktop site, does the sidebar show people logged into the app or is there nobody on ever?
 
I noticed when I logged out of the app today ( Galaxy S7, Chrome) there was no funfact from either Harvey or Mattman

Americans deserve better, huge disappointment
 
Slew of updates launched today for the beta site. Clear your cache and see if that alleviates any of your concerns.

As well, for those who come the first time "Condensed" view will be the default. Users who are used to the old setup will find this far more familiar with the new updates.
 
Yeah. Facebook style up vote and downvote. Also, maybe I can't figure it out but how in the freak am I suppose to give karma with this new-fangled thing. It should be made in a way even I could figure it out.

It shows everyone who is logged into newschoolers and currently active, regardless of device.

You aren't able to do that anymore. We're re-tooling the Karma system over the summer and that method of Karma giving won't be available anymore.
 
Just got a push notification that Jlev is bailing out 4frnt. Actually pretty legit feature. App seems cool.

I was getting 404s on the desktop for the last couple days, I honestly thought NS was down for good. Anyways, it doesn't say https in my location bar, you'd think it was still 2005 or something.

I'd like to know just how these updates have positively effected NS in regard to new member adoption on the mobile app (and similar statistics.) I know everyone hates change and that backlash is inevitable, but this is really bad. I sure hope there are plenty of incoming younger members to replace those who have been here for years and are slowly losing interest/desire with these updates.

We had to change a ton of things for the app, we are slowly fixing small things here and there, be patient please.

Also to expand a bit on what Evan said, in order to build the app we literally had to throw the entire front end of the site in the trash and start over. So .frenchy - when you say "why do you fix shit that literally didn't need any fixing" it isn't taking into account that nothing of the old interface was left after we made the update.

We temporarily had the two front-ends running side-by-side in the "beta" phase where we were working to make sure everything on the new setup worked, but we can't permanently maintain two websites. We don't have the resources to do so, and it doesn't make any sense.

There's an enormous amount of benefit which have come from the update we did, and everyone will adapt to it over a bit of time.

Today we removed the ability to go back to the old setup, because we need to move on and keep improving the new one.

I am disappoint.

Two things, for the love of God please add something to break up between posts in a thread. It's literally just a big page of white with a thin line. At least in the old one there was a little gradient which was nice. Unless that was just on the threads page...I think it was on both.The reason I wasn't using the app was because it looked so minimal.

Second, please make the message text box bigger. It's friggin tiny. Worthless for long posts and any text accompanying pics.

Whoa - you have something seriously wrong going on there. Is that the app or the mobile site?

This is the bottom of the screen as I see it:

And I figured it out. Click "editor on". It works as intended like that. We should fix the view if the editor is off.

Here it is with "Editor off". Same issue. I'm on the app and I had the same problem on mobile. I'm on the current version of the app. Android, Galaxy S8+

Fyi, I have the same problem on my old Galaxy S4. So I don't think it's my phone, but who knows maybe it still is.

Definitely could be a problem, having the team look into it.
 
I have another app recommendation. So right now I don't see anything to update a forum. Let's say I'm on NSG main page and I exit the app. The next time I go into the app the NSG page comes up but won't be updated and I'll have to go into the menu and click NSG again to reload it. Online, all I have to do is swipe down and the page automatically reloads. Can you guys add something like that? Does that make sense too?

You can pull down to refresh, at least on iOS you can
 
I've come around on it, and I use the app whenever I remember to. So you can stop holding your breath!
