Thoughts on matt sterbenz

ive met him 1 or 2 times. seemed like a nice guy to me.. 4frnt is Amazing.. hes created somehting from nothing.. gotta give him a pat on the back for that .. ive never skied there skis.. but ive been told there amaizng.. they Droped my Buddy Oakley though.. that wasnt nice

um, you sir are an idiot. like every other binding manufacturer, tyrolia makes low end bindings. you get what you pay for. they are designed for light/slow/low level skiers and i'm sure for that group, bindings like tyrolia mojo 11s are ok. they also make high end bindings. some of the best value, sturdiest and safest bindings on the market i might add. mojo 15s, 20s, x17s all absoltely kill it. so there.

Matt is a good guy and has done a lot for the sport and continues to do so. He must be approaching 30 by now. Anyways, some background info if anyone is interested. Schmies posted this about 5 years ago.

"Matt is from Wisconsin. Grew up skiing Wilmont and Geneva and ripping

around with Kyle Needham and Tom Cooley, if you don't know them, don't

ask. Attended school at Minnesota, graduated and moved to Squaw. Worked

his ass off to be good and it shows. Quit Fischer over their reluctance

to continue making good skis, and started 4FRNT. Another name to add to

the list of Wisconsin/midwest kids making it happen."

Cool guy. Got a chance to hang out with him and his campers today and he was doing a great job at getting kids stoked to try (and stomp) new tricks. So many kids had huge smiles on their faces while they thanked him for the good trick tips and confidence

Keep an eye on the CoC park updates for some interviews with some of the coaches and campers sometime this week!

I have known Matt Sterbenz for a number of years and have had countless personal interactions with him over the years. I have seen various sides of sterbenz in all sorts of situations, and feel like I am fully qualified to comment on the subject.

He is one of the most petty, cheap, selfish dickheads in the ski industry. He has screwed more people out of things than anyone I have ever met. He has manipulated his way into the ski industry with no talent, only the thirst for money, power, and fame.

What allows him to continue to do this is his ability to market himself and his company, and to position himself in places of power. He then uses this power to his, and only his, benefit with everyone else around him taking the hits from it.

We are still on good terms with one another, and this is how it goes in life. You have to get along with the worst of them. I would suspect that any one of a number of people who he considers to be close to him would describe him similarly as I have.

I hope that in my life, no one close to me could ever say similar things about me in any way.

It would be my wish that his company 4FRNT fails as much as he does as a person in the near future. I would never support a company like that.

It is obvious by the above posts that I am not the only person to feel this way. Matt Sterbenz, if you see this I would ask that you really re-evaluate yourself as a person and make every attempt to better yourself, and quickly. In the end, it is you and only you who will suffer.

Ok lets get this straight.....being a GREAT skier, creating a company, and being a big name in the industry is GREAT Like it shows how much intelligence, tenacity, and courage the guys has.....BUT all of those have nothing to do with personality.

Pros can be dicks all the time....ive heard horrible shit from Dumont, Tanner, CR..... ALL huge names, huge accomplishments, most own their own companies ( except CR).

Plus i would have to say that sometimes, people just have fucking bad days. You meet this guy at the wrong time, and well your view of him can be fucked up. First impressions only happen once, and well all know how many people here jump to conclusions.

Honestly.....ive never met the man, and probably never will ( unless i go super pro, or become a crazy huge park builder) i just want to say don't just judge him by what his has done in the industry.

Ohh...BTW.....im a pretty old dude from back in the day....and well he wasn't that great of a rider. He had his moments ( Orage master, AM comps, etc)......but honestly most of the guys on his team now have a bigger rep then he does ( Vinny D " New Canadian Air Force member, Modern Switch skiing", CR " Modern freestyle backcountry skiing", and Steele Spence " Modern jib skiing"...........alot of these guys created what skiing is today.....Matt has not done anything THAT big.

I HAVE met him and I can see where people get that he is a asshole,

although he has also been a chill dude to me,

like it is said above it is proly what kind of mood he is in

why use a hidden name to trash someone? cause if you really cant stand him that much why would it matter what he thought of you anyways? anyways besides the point i guess, i only know him as a coach and hes pretty sick at that.

from some seriously confidential sources I hear he is a fuckin dick.

very cheap and always in it for himself. hes lucky to get the support he has if you ask me. solid skier, but not a very good person. some of his riders(and ex-riders) deserve ALOT more credit then he gets.

You can't please everyone 100% of the time. I've crossed paths with him before and I've got nothing positive to say about him, but nothing too negative either. He seems like a pretty reserved dude but I can totally see how he would come across as a dick given the situation.

I will shit on his company because their shop form program is a complete joke. I looked into getting a pair of EHP's last season and when I saw that they're shop form prices were well above any other brands prices I got over 4Frnt real quick. Support the people that sell your shit. Or we'll sell the other guys stuff instead.

Rant over.

yes. i remember seeing him and his buddies shred the 'mot back in the day. i have never met him, but a guy who made it in the ski industry after starting at Wilmot will always be someone i admire.

he is a stand up guy, couple off years ago on Brightons closing day, me and my buddy got up there late and the lot was packed, we were driving around looking for a spot and ran into sternbenz and his crew who were bbqing, and had a saved spot. the guy noticed i had some stl's and he let us have the parking spot

he then came over introduced himself asked me how i liked the skis then invited us over to the bbq for some beer and burgers. then we skied with him and his crew for the rest of the day, way chill

(unfortunetly like three seconds after we got to the bbq the cops raided it and gave everybody who wasn't 21 myself included tickets, fuck utah )

screwed over myself and some others i know with warranty. also, was an asshole on the phone regarding multiple warranty claims.

I have known Matt for about 6 years. The guy is a great skier--could probably school most everyone on this board--at least in the big mtns

Matt is a real nice guy that is genuine and helps push people to be the best they can be. If every company in the ski industry had people like Matt working for them, we would all be a lot better off.

All you ignornant haters need to go and do something with your lives or with your skiing, before you shit on some guy who is out there making it happen for all of us

dude its cracks me up how much throught you put into this sterbenz shit. ive met sterbenz many times, i actually grew up skiing at the same resort in wisconsin he did with paul yih. if i have to say anything about sterbenz, he was never polite back when i was a kid skiing, always cocky and self centered. nowaday, he hasnt changed much. the last encounter i had with him was in january and he didnt seem any different. as far as i know about him, and what i think others should know, he is a loser who sucks as far as skiing ability and a man who does not keep his word to the people who deserve it, he only does it to people who pay full price for his products. hes not a good role model, period.
