Thoughts on Bringing Camera Gear to Hood?

I want to film and take pictures up at Mount Hood when I am up there for a session, but I have also heard that they have a problem with theft and I was just wondering if it is worth the risk to take it up?

Thanks

I wouldn't bring anything worth more than a couple hundred dollars... Maybe like a GoPro?

You're going to a camp, you want to chill and have fun. Last thing you want is to have to be worried all the time if my equipment is still safe.

Cameras are nice and all but ultimately I think it would be more of a hassle than it is worth. We do have a way to lock up the camera for you if you do bring it. I would advise just bringing a small camera like a point and shoot or a rebel with a kit lens tops because this place is like no other!

your paying over a grand to ski and your wondering if you should bring a camera to film other people?

go ski you idiot

Well, what I was planning to do is to just get s few shots of everything at the camp so I could use the film to make a small video of what I did with my summer. It was just a thought, but now I see it is not worth the risk or stress.

The only times people get stuff stolen is when they don't listen to the counselors and utilize the safe keeping spots provided by Windells for valuables. If you want to bring someone valuable it's very easy to have the windells staff keep it safe for you when you're not using it. There are shady people all over, theres nothing special about Windells that turns kids into thieves when they get here.

Additionally a fair amount of the "my shit was stolen" claims are just from kids who dropped or lost their ipods, iphones, $20 bills. It's a lot easier to say your shit was stolen than admit you lost it.

Are you going to Windell's or MHSSC?

Shit's pretty safe at MHSSC. We haven't had a problem with stealing as long as I've been there. But like some people said, it may be more hassle than it's worth anyway, with an extra bag, etc.
