Thoughts on Assisted Suicide

if i was a paraplegic i would probably want to be dead so i think that its fine if you are very ill or something and it should be your choice as long as your mentally stable also i don't think you should be able to do it cause of depression cause you can take pills for that or weed or both

100% should be legal. Its more inhumane to make someone who is terminally ill suffer until their last breathe than it is to let THAT INDIVIDUAL make the decision to take THEIR OWN LIFE to end the suffering, especially if the rest of the family is on board. Like has been said 1000 times in this thread already, people should have the ultimate decision with what to do with their bodies, not someone else who isn't going through what they are going through.

Definitely think it should be allowed for terminally ill patients. Some people don't want to live through the pain...I mean, should people not be able to put down their dogs when they are old and sick? Suffering when you are gonna die soon anyways seems pointless to me.

I actually like this. Its actually considered the right thing to put the dog down in order to end the suffering, but the same principal still applies to humans. Why is one considered ethical and is even condoned while the other one is controversial? if anything it should be more acceptable because humans are more susceptible to suffering than animals

ok, so individuals can choose when to die, with doctor's approval (at least that's how it works in this great state of Oregon).

so, in a society where medical care is provided by the state, we now have state (government) agents deciding whether patients live or die.

that, to many Americans, is unacceptable.

I'm not going to read the comments after the OG post because I doubt most people have experienced or witnessed terminal illness first hand. My mom died when I was 10. She was 46 and for the last few years she couldn't walk 10 feet without being exhausted because of the sessions of Chemo she went through. I support anyone who doesn't want to live their life like that. If I didn't have kids then I wouldn't see a point in suffering with very little chance to survive. I am not God, you are not God, the government is not God.. Nobody can say what's right from wrong. And if you're not religious than there's no issue at hand here anyway. Just my 2 cents.
