Thoughts on a $1,200 ski?

So I have been back and forth on this ski for awhile but I wanted to see what y'all thought on the V-werks Katana? I demo'ed the same model a couple years ago but wanted to know if anyone on NS actually rides this ski, and what are your thoughts on it? The same question goes out to those of you who just know about it, is it really worth it?

They actually rip. The price is a bit intimidating but once you get used to the tight sidecut they perform super well on rails and not even on3p can compare in terms of durability. Rumour has it Ahmet rides these in the streets.

Real talk though this is newschoolers I'm sure there's a better forum than this to discuss a 1200 dollar pair of groomer skis.

katanas aint groomer skis. the regular katana was one of the most-loved bread and butter hard charging big mtn skis of all time

this is a carbon version that they introduced, and unfortunately they soon after discontinued the regular katana

the thing skis super super well i hear, and i love the regular katanas more than most other skis that exist

but i do agree that paying $1000+ for skis is retarded. there are better options out there. shit i could probably get two amazing setups, bindings included, for that money

Goodness I'm an idiot I'm sitting here trying to be a troll and I don't have my facts straight. I've actually seen katanas and they look like a Crazy ski but I cannot justify paying 1200 for a pair of skis

Go Get g3 empire 115s for a charger they are cheaper and are super light and durable.

(Still a hefty price tag)

BD helios are better... similar weight, more surfy, less locked-in racer guy status, and cheaper. + 'merica

10/10 worst "troll" i've ever seen.

Never heard of them, but if they are actually that good then I guess it might seem reasonable....but they better turn me into tom wallisch

also the warranty better be like no questions asked

Google Zai skis I think they are 10 or 15k but no one on newschoolers would or should buy a pair. I recommend looking at wu banger skis they do custom ones so for the same price range you can get a ski with everything your heart desires.

There is no justification for spending that much. I will rip your $1200 Volkls up with my $250 Pettitors any day of the week. If you want an elite crud buster buy nordica enforcers.

They are big mountain skis so If if you want to go the Wallisch direction pick a different ski, as maching down AK lines is not his specialty. Think Ian Mac or someone like that.

The kind of guy who buys those skis is the kind of guy who invites a business associate and his wife to his hillside cottage in Whiatler to talk business and drink scotch.

From what I understand they are great skis. Similar to the original katana but probably a bit easier to ski. Markus Edier skis them check out his gram for some cool vids.

Even if they're great would you even want a ski that expensive? Like if you hit a rock or whatever you'd be super fucking pissed and it would ruin your day. I realize it's not a particularly sustainable way to think, but for me the less you care about your gear the more fun you'll have.

The tails on my kinks split (used them for all mtn skiing, no park) and I've emailed them a few times over the past month and heard nothing back, so I'm not on the greatest terms with volkl right now.

Luckily my local shop takes great care of their customers so they offered to handle it for me, even though i didn't buy the ski from them.
