Thoughts about the new Sony NEX-VG10

Why the fuck would they make it shoot in 60i? Like really? No way it's going to be a real prosumer camera, but it will certainly come with bragging rights for whatever soccer moms buy it.

I'm not ruling it out - you never really know till you hear about it from firsthand experience.

T2i= 800 dollar body
Sony= 2000
but i do like the eye peice and rotating video style view finder. bending over akwardly starts getting annoying after shooting for a half hour with a DSLR

well this is not really a DSLR.

but the 60d will overcome the viewfinder issue along with some other things. just wait for canon's press conference on the 26th.

This isn't a DSLR at all - its a camcorder with interchangeable lenses, aka it doesn't have all the pitfalls of a DSLR.

And Ducky, go to Google and type in "60i vs 30p vs 24p" and I'm sure you'll find something. I'm too lazy to explain now...

Sony is really blowing it. I bet it would've been the same cost to put 24p and 30p in that fucker. And 60p is becoming a norm too. Retards.

so after reading that, in a brief summary, 60i is bad because you will always lose resolution in the deinterlacing?

Gahh, looks so sexy. probably would have gotten it in a year or so... That thing would be so front heavy with a nice big lense on there though

interlaced frame rates consist of half frames...so 1080i is really 540 lines of full resolution.

again, Sony are retards.

this. They haven't really been able to nail a solid camera besides the ex line (all are 6k and up last I checked too). They could have been one of the first companies to release an interchangeable lens camera, but they made it such a turn off that I doubt it will do them any good. I mean look at it, it's a fucking handycam with a handle glued to it and a lens mount.

Their ex line isn't impressive either. Its still your typical shitty Sony video image. I will give them credit for making a camera with a nice shape instead of going that stupid fixed lens/strait body + top handle route, but for that price, a p2 cam destroys it.

Sony cams are ass unless you spend $10g or more. Then they are amazing.

fuck yeah panasonic wins the under 10g range for sure.

Anyone know anything about the new canon xf300 and xf305?

I filmed with it all day today, and i gota say i like it. The built in microphone is really good, and i like being able to monitor your audio with Headphones, something you cant to on the t2i which i have (im not going to capitalize my i's) The zoom is really hard to turn and moves the camera body when you try to use it, the focus is nice, but the handle gets in the way when you are doing large focus racks... The screen is nice, but could be bigger. The menu navigation is SHIT, its so hard to use the little scroll wheel right by the LCD and all the controls are the logical opposites. The video quality is excelent, but some creative controlls are limited with the kit lens because of its 5.6 maximum. Another thing, there is no thumb record for holding the handle, which gets really annoying filming skating or anything low where u hold the handle. Also, when you zoom, the camera becomes front heavy and tips foreward. One thing i really like is the auto focus which my t2i doesn't have, its pretty good, but will struggle sometimes, creating the famous shitty DSLR autofocus effect. I like the camera overall, but think you could spend $2,000 a lot better, rather than buying a Camcorder with a lens stuck on as J1a3m3i7e said.
those are the critical thoughts of my brain
And now here is a video I found today that is unrelated but makes me laugh.../static/images/flash_video_placeholder.png

yea not impressive at all, you can always tell when it's a sony. looks like shit no matter what.
and with this vg10, good idea in theory, but so many things wrong with the actual product. i thought everybody was over 60i long ago
