Thompson Rivers University

I know there's threads on this but there from a while ago just wondering if anyone on here has been there and what they think of it as a University how the dorms are etc. Thanks

yeah, I'm there right now, this is my first year. I live in Kamloops, so I'm not in the dorms, but Ive been in them a lot. There's a $2000 price difference for the nice dorms and the McGill dorms. Stay in the nice dorms (the new ones), its way better.

I'm doing my bachelors of science. This is only my first year so it's really general, but I'm hoping to end up in micro and macro biology. Sun Peaks is only 40 minutes away, and there's Harper, only 25 minutes away. I mainly ski at Sun Peaks, seeing as I work there, but Harper is super fun to ski at night. What are you taking?

Yeah, it's a blast man. Parties in the dorms all the time. Last Friday, K-os gave a free show, I'm not really into hip hop and R&B but it was a crazy time. Tons of people there, and the party just continued into the dorms. About the facilities, there's the Canada Games Pool and a completely new gym on campus (finished last year). With the CGP, theres an indoor full sized track, basketball courts, vball courts, a gymnastics gym, an outdoor track, the 2nd only turf soccer field approved by FIFA in North America (the other one is in Mexico), 2 other soccer courts, outdoor basketball courts, you name it, they have it.

I'm in a new dorm right now. Compared to other dorms, this place is flippin baller man. The rooms are extremely spacious, the place is only 4 years old, and there are 530 kids in this 11-story building. It's so rad, and they aren't any more strict than anywhere else. I got 3 roommates and we all have separate bedrooms, TWO showers, dining area. Double bed. TV in every bedroom. Peepholes in the doors. Key cards to get in. Nice lounges for TV sports and poker, etc. Outdoor barbecues.

This is coming from someone who went to Queen's University, and that campus and the surrounding "student ghetto" neighborhood is a DUMP compared to this place. The residence rooms are like prison cells, soo small, brick walls, tiny metal bed. Plus you can get shafted far away from actual campus. Crap weather especially. The campus here at TRU is new and nice, there are no retarded 200+ person lectures, only 40ish people classes instead. Everything is within a 5 minute walk from residence too. NOT TO MENTION A HUGE POOL FACILITY WITH A 5 METER DIVING PLATFORM!!! A nice gym, turf sports field, indoor track, open gymnastics facility with tramps and foam pit. Vitamin water in the vending machines. Lots of hot girls. Sun peaks ski resort is not too far. Great, energetic, positive vibe goin' on around here, I'm tellin' you. There's everything you need here. Plus it's still growing bigger and better.

Basically TRU > Queen's

I'm taking engineering, a one year transfer program to go to UBC or UVic or wherever. Way better cause smaller classes n stuff, you do a lot better and get smarter.

sounds unreal thanks for your in put did u go by yourself or with a buddy? and the class sizes sound good and the girls are good or wat?

I'm in two 200 student lectures, but the rest are way smaller. There are a ton of girls everywhere, in the dorms, or from Kamloops. (the Kamloops girls are better)

I came here solo but got 3 roommates who are all great guys. The residence application form is somewhat particular, which is good, so they do a decent compatability job. Super easy to meet people here anyways. My classes are all 40 people or less. You soak up a lot of information.

I was at the gymnastics center today too bustin' triple fronts are kangaroo flips into the foam pit SOOO FUN! And and amazing leg and core workout.

Bump. I am going there in September for Adventure Maragement Diploma. Does any one know if they have a ski club? I am not living on campus, I want to get a 1bdrm Appartment near by, does anyone have any suggestions for a good location. I have a car.
