It seems that everywhere i look i see the sickest trick, the 540, but its not a pencil five, its corcked its rodeo, its bio ,its stalled, it has a mad ass grab what the hell, i want to see more 540s winning comps(not really) is it just me or is the 540 underated as trick?

While that's hardly a new idea I think fewer but slower rotations should become en vogue again. Instead of aiming at a 1440 do a sleepy slow 180 or 360 over the same distance. I think it looks more laid back, i.e. cooler.

Even though some think they're more stylie, they're not nearly as technically difficult as a bio 1260 or switch rodeo 9. They definetly look amazing, but they can't win comps judged by difficulty.

cork 540s and slow style 540s are are the tricks that have sort of dominated snowboarding. Open any snow boarding mag or watch any snowboarding video and cork 5s are quite popular with everyone. The reason why is because it looks good. Its not a huck, its easier to have a lot of style on a 540 than on a 1260 or some ridiculous spin like that, but it still has some difficulty because of the switch landing, and slow rotation. If the patterns remain similar between the evolution of siing, and that of snowboarding... big slow corked 540s wiht tweaked grabs should become mre popular with skiers... Just look at Candides... or Mike Nicks Cab 5 off that pow kicker...

I agree Darryl, film new shit that hasn't been done by either sport. Right now, you're more likely to go 'holy shit!' while watching a snowboarding movie then a ski movie. Reverse that!

I think this is where the slopestyle format is going to be the shit, just like in the x-games. people are going to have the chance to show style and skill, you can throw a cork 5 off one of the little hits and then bust out something huge over the showcase booter, thats where its at.

i'd say that corked 5's look sick and if its stylie enough could win a big air comp however u should do it unnaturally or switch

Airs to railslides for sure...that is going to be the next step. I know people are doing them...but they will definatly get more intense.

 
i think zero spins are way over rated. they look cool and all, but they're not that incredibly difficult. i don't think it's the individual trick that wins, but how nice it's and and in comparison to what other tricks are thrown. it's about style and difficulty, not one or the other.

off course everyone wants to master a certain group of tricks but as we all know there is always 1 trick that dominates...for instance 2001 was the season of the switch misty and this season it will be the cork 3...its just the way our sport works like a couple pros throw a trick that was unthought of then it becomes the comp trick of the year..etc.......

ah i dont really like cork 3's, cause from what ive seen there not too coked out, it would be cool to see more flatspin 5's and some huge corked 5's, like candide's. but yea zero spins aren't really that appealing to me, it is like the super lazy i dont even care kinda trick, but whoever does it places well. sure it looks sick when pollard does it over some massive table, but so many people are trying to copy his style now, and theyre getting it wrong and its gay.

zero spind look sick if you do them right. and theyre so fucking scarey. iv only tried em a couple times, this year i wanna learn em. look at mike nick's zero in the back of the newest freeskier, it looks fucking amazing, he doesn't move a muscle in the air.

why should anyone care what 'this year's trick ' is? why should there be a certain trick for each year.. everyone should do their own tricks and have their own style.. who cares what anyone else is pullin.. its about individuality and skiin for yourself

you guys are right about 5s like switch and corked with a sick grab, those will be popular but like in the prelms to get you to the finalls but then we will still see them with 9s and 10s and stuff it is just to show that you have style and technical stuff but you can also step it up when you have to, and this year we need big crosses with grabs no more snowboard immitation grabs we can cross lets do it

I have no love for Jamie Burge.

She is an aerialist skiier and lacks style.

The only thing she did was talk.

In Freeskier this last year she said

I think this is the year of the 'zero spin lincoln loops'.

As for cork 3's... how can they be played out, their one of the most technical tricks to throw down and a limited # of people can do em.

ghost- youve got the wrong jamie... jamie burge is a big mountian type chic, jamie myers is the arielist. and while that may be, if you have seen the flying circus youd respect the huge layout fronts over one of the wind up gaps in utah... it was pretty darn impressive.

 
I agree with whoever said who cares wat te trick is this year. I think it's dumb, if you're not throwing a certain trick, then you have no cance at winning. Thats bullsit, it should be watever is doen the best on that particular day.

Perhaps you may think it bull-shit, but the fact is that every year there is one trick that most people didn't think would be possible and it gets all the talk and rave, cause it's just too huge to overlook.... Now what's wrong with that!

 
yea, but fuck that shit - big air is done... not done, but you know what i mean - we got no more new amazingly inovative tricks to learn on tables...

stop looking at skiing as tables and big air competitions... there are two main things now that skiers gotta improve - big ass backcountry booters, and rails (go check out strike three - it's just like... wow)

1080spinna has no idea what he is talking about. tables are perfectly made, nice take off, easy gap to clear with speed, and easy to land. bc hits are not perfectly made, well they are in a sense but they have no perfect landing or set gap to clear, bc hits are about innovative takeoffs and landings, step ups/step downs and doing the same tricks you would in the park but making it 10x harder because of bomb holes and such.

in parks they make step ups and step downs...look at HD they have a weird step up jump in it. so die...

everyone is gonna go out and try corked 3s. the tricks that will win comps will probably be switch flatspins, in and out of the pipe. and rails. corks on to rails. I wanna break out my flat 450 when I grow a pair.
