This Year's Ski Movies Sucked

Ok, I have not seen Skimatic, Anomoly, or LSS. but from what I have seen the ski movie industry is a failure. Lets start with Ski Porn! I just saw it tonight.

It sucked hardcore, terrible music, boring, and way too many switch 5s and cork 7s into powder. Sammy Carlson had the best part.

Now for MSP. Push sucked almost as much as Ski Porn! but it was not down to that level. Bad music, boring segments I was looking all over the theater to find something more exciting to look at. Sammy Carlson once again takes the best part, but Simon and Pollard had illin parts.

Now Show and Prove. Great movie, but doesn't get me stoked like other movies (cough State of Mind cough). This is not a movie I can watch everyday (except for the Cali backcountry segement, it makes me smile.) So I guess this doesn't really go under failure, like those first two. Tanner obvioulsy is the best ever.

Now RAGE, this one is also not a failure, in fact it got me the most stoked to ski because of its rawness. No Slo mo, just raw ski footy with mad good vibes (beach trip, people smiling everywhere). So yea RAGE takes the best movie so far. Once Again Sammy Carlson takes best part. P.S. good mix of music in this movie.

So I guess the Consensus is...

1. Sammy Carlson is god and makes awesome video parts and is prolly the best park skier ever

2. State of Mind is sick and ski movie companies take not of Finga on Da Trigga as well as RAGE.

the end i wish ski movies got me as stoked as 1242 did... o well
 
I thought the same that you think about ski porn, but when you re watch it you like it more and more. especialy if you just watch individual segments, I liked Corduroy too and I thought it was over all a better movie then ski porn, and definitly had better pure big mountain, but the best movie I have seen this yeat was [photo]play.
 
yeh well problem is u didnt see skimatic and long story short my 2 favrotie movies so far. both amaizing sick skiing sick vibe. ski borns vibe sucked but skiing was sick. curduroy was sick i thought
 
ski movies went down the drain this year from what i have seen, im hoping on bogart and other am crews like enhanced media. i havent seen LSS but im also hoping they will kill it as usual.
 
sammy's part in corduroy was soo sick. i agree with all of that except ski porn. ski porn was decent, i thought. corduroy was really sick though, and push sucked hard. dont see skimatic because it sucked balls. go see bibby's and lolo's parts on Youtube. those two were the only ones worth watching. im hoping lss is sick.
 
i though ski porn was just ski porn. MSP didnt do anything new and just made another, commercialized as hell, mediocre movie. cordouroy hada good feel to it, and skimatic was great (my favorite so far); i generally like plehouse, no different this year. just waiting for lss in the mail still
 
its rad but the bails section brought it way down in my rating books because now i will never be able to watch the whole thing through, i absolutely hate crash segments.
 
yeah ski porn sucked so fucking much, push was probably the worst ski movie i have seen ever. the skiing was good in some parts, but i could make a movie 10 times more entertaning.

corduroy was definatly one of, if not the best ski movies ever, im guessing lss will beat it but we will have to see
 
uuummm...helloooooooo? are you fucking stupid or just ignorant? JF Houle? did you forget about his outrageous handrails???? that segment was sick as hell. and please don't tell me you thought Gagnier's segment sucked...and Frank Raymond's all handrail seggy with him just slaughtering everything! i mean come on now, and how could you not be entertained by the Lebonon segment. the rest wasn't super sick, but still a better watch than say, Ski Porn.

ps. Long Story Short is damn sick.
 
ski movies seem to do that... there's no freshness to 'em. it'd be a lot harder to notice if it wasn't for the couple of snowboard flicks every year that put them to shame.

absinthe every year shits on ski movies, and last year 91 words for snow was adding insult to injury.
 
skimatic is amazing. like Jksl said, JF Houle's segemnt, Frank Raymond, Bibby, Laurent, and you for got CHUCK G. ALL 4 10s... can you ask for more?

plus the bonus fetures have good skiing, and if u dont like it its only half hour long unlike ski porn or msp where u have lost a precious hour of your life.
 
The first time I watched Ski Porn, I was so so on it. I watched it again, and was much more into it, and enjoyed it a lot more.

ski porn - eh not that great

LSS - AMAZING although some of the music could have been diff, but still sickest movie ever

skimatic - sick sick sick, pretty much like everyone said, jf, lolo, frank, lebenon, and garn.

Corduroy - every time i watch it i just want to ski, and best sound track ever

God save your $5 - enough said

witness - really impressed with what decker did with NO budget

show and prove - turn the tv on mute and its a good movie

haven't seen push or anom. yet

 
i thought ski porn was dope. skimatic was pretty sick too, tons of amazing urban. cordory sucked. snow gods was sick for an east coast film
 
so you saw 4 movies out of like 15(granted some are much bigger than others)

I agree movies don't get me as pumped to ski as I would like them to, but I don't think some of you realize how hard making a ski movie is. Its easy to make a movie that your friends enjoy because they know the people in it, but to have people from all over the world with different tastes in music and different skiing backgrounds agree that it is good, is pretty much impossible.
 
and yes its true the work is insanely hard even when your not making a movie, people bust their asses to bring you guys entertainment, so seriously show some respect and be thankful the industry is growing and at some point you will have so many options to choose from
 
it had some of my favorite parts, but the movie was just a big commercial. remember how they stuck in brief shots of seth and dan treadway and a few other odd skiers just to get them in there? jon's last segment was anticlimactic too.
 
i found skimatic to be better than plehouse's last film but still a little on the weak side.

show and prove had some great skiing but i really didn't want to buy a film based on what tanner hall did while cr was recovering

photoplay is just a straight up sick film! jeff hit this one on the nose and made a flim with a fitting soundtrack, sick skiers as usual and some great footy!! every year i get amazed by what he puts out!!

so if you're lookin to buy a film BUY [PHOTO]PLAY!!

i truly think ski movies will die off in a few years anyways. to be honest, nothing has impressed me this year yet. nor last year. it is all the same anymore.
 
Quick was legit, Strange folk was legit, Corduroy was legit, skiamatic was legit, photoplay was legit
 
witness fuckin killed it especiall like that one guys said with no budget, kinda short but so sick coming out of ohio wtf and hornbeck fuckin kills it dope segment to and intro is so cool
 
of the few movies ive seen, skimatic was the best. im still waiting to see snowgods, lss, photoplay, show and prove, and respect hopefully. oh yea and anomoly.

strange folk was good too
 
oh man i completely agree..I thought i was the only one that hates crash seggys...seriously they send shivers up my spine
 
i still stand by my opinion but i admit i did only evaluate like 4 out of a lot more, so i guess i can't say This Year's Ski Movies sucked. so yeah they prolly all don't.

I was just mad last night after seeing Ski Porn! maybe i should say This: This Year's Ski Movies Do not get me stoked to ski (except RAGE). Please dont hate meeee i just want to get stoked to go skiing, and nothing has really done that for me yet...

when you go to the cinema and don't like the movie you went to see, do your friends tell you "MAN DO SOMETHING BETTER". I guess not. Same with politics...do you agree with Bush, probably not, could you do better, absolutely not.

Criticism is part of life and you guys need to learn to accept it.

It's not because you criticize something that you could do better. It's your own opinion, and you have the right to say it.
 
i thought ski porn was sick... the only other ive seen is show and prove which was meh.. im thinkin long story short will be sick
