This Sunday at Alpine

Sundays In The Park is happening this weekend at Alpine.

  • It's a free terrain park comp.
  • Registration is from 9am - 10am at Kangaroo Park Building.
  • Comp starts at 11am. & usually wraps up around 1
  • This Sunday, there is a $100 prize purse ($50/1st skier, $50/1st snowboarder) and prizes.
  • Lift tickets this Sunday are $20. (it's Community Benefit Day).
  • Park Crew mixes up the format each week.

heard a rumor the park was getting flattened so the snow could be used for the groomers on summit. Tell me this isn't true

Today was pretty weak. Most of the stuff is taken out, and only the rainbow box and first jump were even hittable, the rest was ungroomed. Here's what's left:

C rail

rainbow box

flat down box

c box (closed)

jump - massive lip for a short deck, maybe 30 feet

big jump - im guessing 50, bigger than it was recently

up rail (half of the up-down setup)

I heard there is going to be another Sunday's in the Park on 4/22. And the top prize on 4/22 will be $300 for skiers and $300 for boarders.

Payday.

The last day for some of the jumps was Friday, April 6. That day, six inches of snow melted between 6am and 3pm. Then, it rained from about 3:30 until 4:30. Maintaining the jumps with rain-soaked sugar snow was proving difficult (like building a sand castle at a shore break). Sorry you're disappointed about them not being there - we know a lot of people liked them; but the park crew is doing the best they can to work with the snow they have. That's most likely the case at any and every resort at this point. Hope you can be here Sunday.

so your not flattening all of the jumps!!!!!! SWEET. well there's another foot of resh to work with and I will hopefully be there on the 22nd

Were just making them better. Roo is now a sick double line that goes 40' to 60'. The roo shooter now looks like this:

We had to consolidate the park to make the jumps top quality again and to cover the dirt and rocks. Kangaroo will run until the 22nd, so get it while you can. Nick's was mowed due to rocks in the run in. Everything melted sooooo fast.

Were up for suggetions on the last "sunday's" event. The crew was thinking one last jump contest on the roo booter would be a sick way to end the season. With all this "LAWSUIT" stuff, it might be the last jump EVER.

Also, that foot(cough, cough)of fresh is not going to help the park.

ah, two things to make me happy, first a beautiful looking jump on roo still even though it's looking like other resorts are starting to give up and second looks like alpine will stay open at least until the 22. Happy times!!!!!

always pulling through!!!!! Sweet set-up. Too bad the collegiate nationals aren't at Alpine instead.

ON a more seriose not. can you explain the possible consquences of jump building at Alpine from this lawsuite? Will it really have a direct effect on the park at Alpine and what have you heard from the management so far?

Yes. Very serious consequences. It could be the end of big jumps, period.

We won't know until the insurance companys make a move, but the whole industry is very nervous.

I can't believe that guy for sueing the resort.

It is so dumb.

He should be responsible for his mistake overshooting a jump. And if its like jumping off a 3 story building why didnt he check out the jump first.

Yeah it was just a bummer because I wasn't gonna go...then it cleared up so I decided to...then I find out its not groomed, wasted a bunch of gas, etc. That jump looks pretty nice though, holy epic tranny.

For the last Sunday you should have an anti-comp in honor of the cancelled Masters this season...just throw bills to people throwing down on the jump, or mini competitions, kinda like the NS takeovers...I dunno if thats kosher with snowbomb or what but it would be sick

Well it was groomed as of 230am, cause that is when I left. We build stuff sometimes on snowy nights to take the rough edges away. Without that couple of inches on top it would have been rough out there.

So for the future: snow last night = less than perfect park conditions. Sorry, but that is the way it goes.

I kind of like the idea of throwing money at people. Anybody else?

That would be cool. Ride around or post up somewhere and If you guys see something you like, toss out some swag / $.

Jonahs.....your the EFFING MAN~!!!! Use shredders heart you in terrain park kind of way.. maybe we couold strengthen this love even more by you stasjing a big pile of snow in the shade some where with a rail so we can get jibby wit it like will smith into July.

Its nothing against you man, just the snow. Speaking of which, have these recent dustings extended the season (past the 22nd), or are they just ruining what precious days we have left? I'm gonna guess today's event didn't go off...

at that top of the park if you can it would be cool to set up a couple flat bars diff sizes because thoes are probley the easyest to work with and are really fun.

i fucken miss you alpine... enjoy it lucky biatches that get to ride there still................... im so jealous

i wish kangeroo would stay open 1 more week. looks like today was the last legit day for alpine.... but maybe the weather report will change

Those jumps are so fucking sick and they were hittable until it closed. You gotta keep them open past this weekend!!!!

yea jonas do you think there is any way you could keep the jumps up for the last week so we could get to them from summit6?

We will start taking down stuff this week. I'm going to try to leave the jump up but roo will be closed. I tried to get them to keep roo going but it all comes down to money.

Also, the last comp has been postponed until the 29th due to bad weather. Not really sure how this is going to work out with roo being closed.

Sorry, I tried.

I know.....Build a massive jump off roundhouse or summit where there is way more snow anyway!!!!!!!!

There is no way that is going to happen. We are closing in a week, and it would take me a couple days to complete it. Also, there is not much snow anywhere. The most snow I have available is on roo. Sorry. Maybe next year.

Anyways here is the details for the comp on the 29th.

$700 cash purse

Hikable feature @ the bottom of roo. It will be a 24'up-gap-32'flat-gap-24'down box. We wan't to do something sick but something that won't scare to many people. We wanted to do the jump but with the lift being closed, it won't work out.

Tons of swag from snowbomb, dakine, smith, etc. (more than usual)

Cheap beer and a band @ the lodge.

If you are under 18 you need a parent signature. You will also need either $10 or an I.D. for a bib.

Should be a fun comp to end the year. They won't let me throw money, but I'm going to try to throw swag for cool tricks. Sorry we couln't do the jump but we're on limited resources.

thanks for trying!! i could be wrong but it seems like the people who will be most willing to pay for tickets in the last week are those who want to hit the park. oh well... when will the jumps not be hitable anymore? and the box feature sounds sickk!

instead of only having boxes in the comp can you maybe throw in a down rail or flat rail too, that way there will be more options than just spinning like a top on the boxes?

I'm not allowed to maintain roo anymore(money). Sorry but if I pimped out the jump without roo rolling they would be mad. If you look at the landing, I got the last four hits on it Monday morning by myself. Sorry, but that will be the last jumps on it this year.

Sunday's contest is still on. Come on out, we got a new set up planned. It will be sick.

Also, my name is spelled Jonahs. It's Jonah with an S at the end.
