This picture in its self is epic the shitty part is I'm flying to my home town 4 days after this forcast of 14 feet. There is also this new awesome spot with a sick right hander I haven't hit when its been big yet...Man I hope I get something decent when I'm back for the week.

Yea dude its the best, nothing poisonous, no tide, lots of waves and no crowd. And when there is a few other people out everyones stoked on everybody even if there is a complete noob. The only shitty thing is it can be cold

i didnt even think about the fact that you guys don't have tides. i guess that could be good sometimes if it's perfect but i cant count how many times ive gotten to the beach and said, shit..need to wait for the tide to stand these waves up more

the great lakes have tides.. not a drastic as the ocean of course.. but that sound fun.. when i go surf i have a 7 mil wet suit and hanging out with 15 footer great whites. and shit.. so if the condidions are good and theres a good spot that sounds like a great time.

I got really excited reading this thread then i found out it would take less time to drive to the pacific ocean then it would to get to thunder bay.

yea there's a bunch of good spots, last year or so we found these super sick points (left and a right) by far the longest rides we've found on the lake so far. There is also a couple of nice slabs we know of.

Kill yourself

That aside, I had no idea you could surf on the lake. Thats wild, I want to try it. You should post pictures.

Only lake I ever hit was ontario. Got some decent waves, mostly just waste high.

I've seen some pretty sick vids though of the lakes.

Since some of the best mountains are on the coasts (east and west) **cough Washington cough** I would assume there are some people who surf on here and a lot who've tried.

Also,

Surfing influenced snowboarding (cali surfers looking to for shit to do on flat days in the winter) snowboarding influenced new school freestyle skiing, leading to innovations such and twin tips, parabolic and fat skis thus saving our sport from possible extinction, so I think all skiers should pay a little homage to the waves!

Now try sailing throught it. G-L storms are the worst...but 14 feet isnt that bad. try 20 feet, now that rips the food right from your stomach
