NS seems to be a huge community and it shoud be. We all have something in common. we all love to ski. We all use this site differently . Some come on here just to buy and sell while others use every aspect of the site. we shoud be hooking each other up. Not fucking each other over. Maybe they didn't intend to flip it, but they bought it and it didn't fit, and it was ski related so NS was the best bet (which may be the case with boots, clothes, etc). Just another way of looking at it.

Although that doesn't justify them upping the price by $100, that's a separate issue which I'm not going into
 
That shit is just whack in my opinion, if you got a good deal on something, and no longer want it, then pass the deal along as opposed to fucking over a member of the community. If anyone is aware of sales or threads where someone is intentionally trying to flip an item, let me know and I'll deal with it accordingly.

Flip shit on ebay if you have too, but not here. Common guys.

You don't know the story behind those sales, and they may well have had legitimate reasons behind them.

It would be stupid not to buy something on ebay if it was a steal.

e.g. you find a $200 jacket for $50 - you buy it, you know someone on NS is going to want it, but you are smart and know where to find deals.

You don't sell it for $200, but for a price which will hook people up with a better price than they could find elsewhere, and you also make some money for the sake of the transaction and for taking the opportunity.

I dont flip shit, but unfortunately for some, business is business...

There is a fine line, but if it's a win/win for everyone then so be it.

I do, however feel that buying from an NS'er and selling it back to NS for a profit is fucking wrong and is inexcusable.
 
before you flame the shit out of me for my last post, let me reiterate that i don't condone ANY flipping onto NS - whether it be NS to NS or external to NS, but business is business and for many people it is pure logic to flip shit here because the community isn't important enough to them for the sake of a few bucks.
 
If they were all bought by the same buyer, then indeed, they were probably meant to be flipped.

I gotta agree with Silence though. If you can found a deal, but found you didn't like the item/it didn't fit, go ahead and hook up an NS'er with a better deal than they would otherwise find.

But when you're consistently doing it for a profit and using passionate skiers (i.e. NS) as a source of income, then there's simply no excuse.

First boots: He bought them thinking they were cool, then realized they were womens boots so is trying to sell them.

Sweatshirts/ t-shirts: Bought them but then didn't fit cuz they ran small.

Goggles: Bought them, but then his parents got him new Crowbars for christmas!

Last boots: Bought them cuz they looked cool, but was an idiot and didn't try them on first so they were too wide for his foot being Salomon and he had to sell them.

But really though, ya that's gay.

anyway, its called business...im not jacking up the prices much im still selling them for much less than any shops, i find solid deals. i turn a little profit.

its called being smart. i dont care if NS hates it. technically speaking its a job for me, i am in college right now with no other job... i took 1000$ of my money and invested it, i am now turning it into more to support paying for college, and skiing.

if you were smart youd do it it too

Who gives a fuck. Ya, it is VERY nice when kids hook people up but it should definitely NOT be expected. It's called making a profit. Supply and demand son, if somebody wants to make money and knows somebody will buy it then for all means go for it. As far as a nice little community....ya sure, nice and small with over 100,000 people.

This is not a big deal,,,, if somebody wants his goods and feels likes its a good price they will buy it. If his price is too high then they wont buy it. like they said above,,,,simple supply and demand. Now,,,,if they were stolen that is another story,,,, but this is not happening at all,,, so let it be.

the point about "hook ups" who are you to say what is a hook up and what's not. Kids are still getting great deals out of his stuff.

unfortunately this whole area is very grey.

on one hand NS is a tight community to many of its members and it is bad form to flip shit onto each other with the sole intention of making a profit.

On the other hand, it is obvious that most people here are still at highschool, haven't got many skills in the way of business and therefore find it hard to recognise that business is exactly that. Taking advantage of an opportunity to make money by buying something at a low price and selling it at a higher price...its straight-up logical, and to many smart people in the world; not to take advantage of things like that would be considered stupid.

I can't see the issue with buying something cheap and then selling it here at a price still well below retail?..It helps out the people buying the products because they don't pay retail, whereas most places you will.. and it also helps out the seller by giving them a small profit, and a reward for identifying and taking the financial risk and opportunity in the first place.

As i said, there is a fine line between making a sound business decision and getting a good return on your investment, but at the same time, by taking advantage of the NS community purely to make a profit..

I don't think that there should be a blanket ban on sale threads for things which have been purchased on Ebay. The price things sell for here is probably cheaper than what they would achieve on Ebay anyway.

There is a fine line between taking advantage of NS and hooking members up whilst still making money.
 
There are valid arguments each way, BUT - buying from Ebay with the sole intention of selling here is shady..thats the bottom line.
 
and at the risk of getting flamed, i don't think Ebay flipping is comparable to SAC flipping.

Anyways to sum it all up just read what substance wrote, I think he's got the best understanding of these typed of situations.

if you dont wanna buy something dont.

if some are willing to invest money to give someone here on NS a good deal, then so be it. If they dont do it, then some random person is gonna get it, likely not helping anyone here. This is the same shit as SAC, except 1 person gets a shot at it here and then gets to offer a savings to more people and let them save some cash too, chances are whoever got the deal passed onto them here never even knew about the ebay auction, and thus would've payed even more then what they did here had someone not flipped it.

And if they do buy it then they are obviously getting it at a better price than they would have gotten else where, hence helping out the enitre NS "community",,,if that make you feel better about it.

don't be defensive. WHat you are doing is legitimate, some people just don't like it. I will fully admit that I have done it. If someone on Ebay isn't willing to pay the price it should go for, why should they win it instead? I consider it free capitalism at its best (or worst, depending on how you see it). It isn't a big deal. If people want to buy something to resell it, then the person on Ebay who lost the item should have bid higher, right? Flipping can ONLY occur because other people weren't willing to bid what they should. End of argument

He's not asking people to pay overly expensive prices, nor is he making them pay anything. It doesn't matter if he bought it off eBay and is selling it again. Why should he compromise making a decent profit cause he got it cheap?

If he really is a shady seller and you don't agree with his business practices then just send a message to all the people bidding on his ebay items and tell them that.  It is a really dick move, but can save buyers from having to deal with a shady seller who won't send their stuff or saying it's in better condition than it auctually is.

see flipping shit on NS is just a dick move, most kids buying shit on NS are kids, and college students who are low on the cash flow or mom and dad wont pay for brand new shit from a shop.

i would say more than 3/4 of college students can manage a job work and sports, so if you are unable to do that now, i highly doubt you are going to have an easy time in the real world, so dont go claiming you have a future just because you're in college

also, what your doing is nothing like running a shop, you're just scamming kids. and to your post a few up, about kids winning shit or being sponsored, most of them state, "i won these at a comp so i will let them go cheap" are you telling us in your threads, "i got these off ebay for X amount, but im going to sell them to you guys for 200% more."
