I'm so tired of seeing photos be uploaded by people looking for attention. Many times these people do not even post on NS, they just upload pictures. In the vast majority of cases, it seems to be young girls who obviously are not getting enough attention on Myspace. For instance-

This is all from TODAY. All of these people have NO posts- they just upload bullshit photos. I could easily have made a longer list, but it isn't worth it at this point. I'm sure you can get my idea.

Something needs to be done about this. Its taking up space and ruining the media section of the site.

I might upload this to SG and NSG to spread the word

 
There has been discussion of pictures automatically going to private instead of public. but yeah, I feel your pain.
 
I have been talking with Scott about this. I had an idea that maybe there should be some sort of qualifier before someone can upload photos such as a requirement that the user have at least 100 posts or be around for a certain amount of time.
 
There's gotta be some kind of way to stop this...The best we can do right now is comment the pics and call them attention whores and tell them to stop.
 
wow i just dont feel like its that big of a deal and it certainly isnt ruining anything. you dont have to click on them. people need to chill out. it fucking makes me sick when i see someone telling people to get off this site because they posted a pic of themselves. some of the comments are just redic. they arent breaking any rules. they are posting the pictures in the people section right where they belong.

just chill if you dont like the picture dont click on it. yeah its lame but flipping out over a picture is pretty lame as well
 
I commented one of the girl's actual ski picture saying something like "whats with this sudden influx of legit pictures?" and she PM'ed me saying some BS like she lost all her ski pics. I had to go to her profile to message her back (NS is F'ed for me) and I noticed she added me as a friend, probably assuming it was myspace style where I had to accept it. This one's such an attention whore that before I even messaged her back she wanted to be friends with me.
 
eh. i see where you're coming from with this, but i don't think i should have to go blue just to save my picture posting ability. i know not every picture on my account is full of snow- but at the same time, neither is everyone elses. i'm here to talk about skiing.

as the site gets more popular, it's only to be expected to have people who some might not consider "legit." it's a toss up- popularity and a wider scale, or a narrowcasted site with fewer members?

i'm happy for the site, and everyone on it- for it's success, but at the same time, i understand people's frustration.

hopefully as peoples seasons fire up, therell be a flood of skipics, toning out the influx of bratz dolls.
 
you shouldnt be worried about that. what i think is retarded that way too many people seem to do is post a picture of their new gear. especially multiple pictures of it. honestly, i dont see why anyone cares what colour suit someone you dont even know has? stop posting these pictures.
 
Im on IE 6. But ns is mega gay for me since the buy out and all the updates. A few times a day NS will just not let me type anything. Then a few minutes later I can.
 
Keith keeping the peace&love.. I like. Seriously, It's really not that big of a deal. Plus, n00bs don't know what it's like to be on NS, and the first thing they want to do is get noticed - so they post a picture. I don't like the superiority complex that everyone who's been around for more than a year (if even) have been exhibiting lately. Get over yourself. I'm not targeting anyone specific here, but seriously... Just let it be. I mean, you can freak out at it every once in a while, but there's a limit. These people have every right to post whatever they want.

It's shit like this that has made me stop posting pictures of any kind lately, photography as well as personal.
 
theres alot of "I'm a thug in my bedroom" and "Check out my setup", not to mention "Look at my hats" or "This is my shit for sale" pictures which are equally annoying. Let people post whatever.
 
nah man, i think it is pretty annoying when you open up the latest additions page to see hundreds of myspace pics when you are there to see some dope artsy or skiing pictures. it also overshadows all the good photos out there that should be top rated. it takes 20 or so votes to get to top rated and by that time your picture might be off the main page.

I know its lame to flip out on pictures and there are a bunch of people who need to chill out but there is obviously a spam problem that effects others.
 
There is an option on the left for you to filter your picture option results once you get to the media. Use it.

People need to chill the fuck out and let people do what they want instead of being all high and mighty talking shit on people when they post myspace shots. You are just as gay as the person who posted the picture. No one is forcing anyone to look at anything here, it's simple as that NS drama queens.

 
My point is this- Contribute photos to add to the community, not to get

attention from the community. If somebody is uploading myspace photos

and they don't post anything, then they certainly are not adding to the

community in any way. The photo section has been getting more and more distanced from how I feel it used to be- people uploading photos with the intention of "hey, this is a cool photo of whatever. I'd like to share it everybody on newschoolers." Recently it seems like people are uploading them for entirely different reasons, namely "LOOK AT ME LOOK AT ME!!! Tell me I'm so hot LOL?!???"

Or maybe I'm just outgrowing newschoolers...
 
it would be a lot easier if more people used the private gallery feature. i try to for all sale stuff and thread info but a lot of people dont bother

as far as restricting picture posting unless you have a certain number of posts or whatever, i disagree. a large portion of the members on this site dont use the forums, they just check out and post pics and videos. i was one of those people for the first few months i was on the site. i didnt care about forums too much, i jsut wanted to watch ski videos and look at cool ski pics. it would be unfair in my opinion to restrict these people from participating. just use the picture categories and you wont have to look at most of the bad ones
 
in my opinion, who cares, its notlike it really matters, some people like attention, hence why some girls on here post slutty pics only to get off by hearing guys say they want them and how hot they are. im kinda in the middle on the whole situation
 
i agree, newschoolers is a ski site, so the only pictures people are gonna wanna see on this site are ski related
 
I agree. There should not be people who post pictures of only themselves. I also think there should be a for sale picture section or a post + picture because so many people bitch about ski equipment being a classified.
 
i dunno I don't really like posting anymore you know, that would be hinderance to people that just wanna post up their pics.  i think the peope pics should just be not included in the front page of photos that go up. does that make sense?
 
I agree with this, if you don't want to see pictures of people just browse the jumps, rail, bigmountian, pipe ext ext.

but on a further note I think it should be made so that you can choose to view mullitiple types of photos at once, so you could select both half pipe and jump shots, and then view them at the same time.
 
once a girl added me as a friend that i didnt know so i stalked her and got all her information down to the guy's name she blew in a hot tub in aruba.

HOW IS IT OFFENDING OR ANNOYING TO YOU WHEN SOMEONE ELSE POSTS A PICTURE IN THE PICTURE SECTION/// GET IT? PICTURE, IN A PICTURE SECTION. THERE IS A 'PEOPLE' SECTION BY THE WAY. WHAT ELSE ARE YOU SUPPOSED TO PUT IN THE 'PEOPLE SECTION'
 
That's actually not a bad idea. It would also prevent people from making alias's and loading up porn/fake sales.
