This one hits hard

Zahner had it for 3 years straight, and passed it on when he quit street. It's also insanely whack that armada refuses to branch out with pro models, they have so many talented and deserving dudes that SHOULD have a pro model. You can disagree and think that sticking with their guys is cool, but IMO that's lame as fuck because the sport is evolving and so should the people getting royalty checks from skis. ON3P been rotating pro models forever as well and they are the sickest company out rn. You can't tell me it's cool that dollo has had a pro model for like 10 years while people like dani, seamo, kuura, Downey, and more can't even have a chance at one?

Also to clarify, I don't think the brand armada is whack, I think them not offering up pro models to more of their riders is whack. And im pretty sure that's changing next year so it doesn't matter anymore but it was something that I didn't like for the past however many years. Line doing the same shit now with the Twall pros, like give that shit to will or Andy for once.

oh im not saying armada is doing it right. i was just pointing out how i think the old way of doing things is the armada way and the new way of doing things is how j skis is doing it.

i think to grow the sport, we want it to feel and be obtainable for more people so having a wide variety of amazing skiers highlighted i think is better than a few legendary skiers but really having a mix of both is great. i’m all for tall t fam reposts, wun hit wonders, seasonal graphics etc.

Oh fair. Maybe it is a new thing but idk, I remember whenever a pro model got introduced it was like a symbol of "making it". It definitely still is, with brands like vishnu, ON3P, surface even, and I think that's the coolest thing a company can do, and I think it's dope that you can watch skiers in real time climb that ladder?

Fucking wayne wong

There's always been a million good skiers. The difference is social media. I love all the skiers listed - THall, Henrik, Walnuts, etc. but they were the simply the last of the new school that were headliners before easy mass exposure.

Before them was Candide, JP Auclair, Mike Douglas, Glen Plake... It was just far harder to get exposure. Hell, Klaus Obermeyer is considered the OG freestyler. He was just doing backflips and daffys.

I think in the future we'll see more and more of these guys in search of being the "most complete" skier. That's what I'm personally striving for at least. How cool would that comp be? Could you imagine a contest that was judged on a complete season's body of work? I'm talking Big Mountain + Park + Pipe + Racing + Film Segment + whatever else, all scored in aggregate? Would be a fun season to follow...
