went skiing yesterday, hit the bit jumps, first one 60ft, second 55 but way more pop. Everything was fucking hard/icy. Miscalculated the speed for the second jump, was way too fast, finished my rodeo5 mid air, landed almost in the second flat on my back/head. There was no snow, just ice!The lower part of my back protector is crushed, my helmet too, I got a huge bruise on my lower back, can barely walk. Was fucking scared that I had destroyed my spine until the doctors told me i was fine.thats a red trace with a 2mm shell of hard plastic.That thing literally saved my life!Dont ski without helmet!

Or when you do big jumps with icy landings always wear a helmet :) haha jokes but seriously thats super lucky dude, same with your back protector... Only time I don't wear my helmet is when im shredding rails and im super hot so just wear my googles, but defiantly wear in when jumping!

But you were very lucky you didnt break anything since the landing was so icy... hopelly you wont get any traumas haha.
 
See, helmets still do protect you from high impacts. That is a bunch of bullshit that a helmet does nothing after a certain speed or whatever.
 
i always wear a helmet in the park and while doing powder turns, this is why. i dont wanna turn vegatable.
 
i always wear a helmet regardless of what i'm skiing, unlike my hat, it can't absorb water if I fall in some wet NJ slush, and it protects my head. I ski a lot of rails to so, I don't really want to smack my head on oe without a helmet.
 
terrible reasoning man, it's a life or death situation sometimes. And you never know when it's gonna happen, get a nice comfy, styley helmet and go shred.
 
You should probably where a helmet when driving too, shits soo fast. I have a wrangler though so i have a roll cage, im extra protected from everything
 
no i know helmets have saved my life mulitple times... I was skiing some pow and there was a random patch of ice underneath the snow i slid out and slammed into a tree head first cracked the helmet and blacked out for a bit.....but yeah i wear a helmet occasionaly...
 
Glad ur still alive. Way to keep it safe cause I would be bummed to see anyones brains oozing on the landing.

i was there the last 3 days for the park opening.. soo sick. and landing flat at this 2nd sounds soo scary dude! but the jumps are awesome for october :D jossi, bobby, russ, oscar and many others were also there.

true and false. After a certain point they wont stop a concussion, but they will keep you from cracking your skull open. It can reduce the concussion though by redirecting some of the impact to a larger area of the head instead of just a huge impact to a small area.
So keep the helmet on, but expect to still get a concussion with a high speed impact.

I was skiing at Hintertux glacier, Austria. Pretty nice setup up there. Second jump, on which I crashed is easily doubleflippable. Some guys like Russ threw those down all day. Superpipe and some rails are there too
 
my friend was trying back flips without a helmet once, and over rotated the shit out of it and got a major concussion and couldn't ski for the rest of the season. The doctors said he was lucky not to have incurred brain damage. Like the old saying goes..

like some skiers are really good at protecting themselves when they fall like adam delorme but also its east coast vs west coast snow vs ice too i think if i skied ice all day i would wear one
 
my thoughts exactly, i know im only skiing small crappy jumps in ohio, but i have landed like a boner and compacted my back, and with trying shit this year, i dont want to screw myself over. also ohio snow is pretty much hard packed ice, all season.
 
helmets are great but i personally dont wear em they bug my head dont hate because some people dont wear them personal preference is all
 
3 years 3 cracked helmets. Walked away from all of them. Seen one other person land completley sideways in the flat of a 60 footer and ski away with a mild concussion. helmets save lives period.
 
dude people like you need to shut the fuck up. theres lots of pros you jack off too that dont like to wear helmets either so why dont you quit acting like you know everything
 
Don't be ridiculous.
99.99 % of the hundreds of thousands (if not more) of people who have skied their entire lives without wearing a helmet have never died from head injuries.
It is absolutely absurd to call that a fair comparison to "having unprotected sex with multiple unknown partners" (which is basically a guarantee of some kind of eventual health problem).
