This is probably one of the most enjoyable edits (WARNING: CONTAINS SNOWBOARDING)

I am a skiier and i probably watched this at least 10 times. Vibes is sick, editing is pretty on point, and i was digging the music. Overall, one enjoyable film

Hmmmm.... methinks skiing needs more stuff like this.

In your guys mind, what edit/segment comes closest to this vibe?

probably some of the Traveling Circus edits.

i like the vibe/feel of snowboarding edits more than skiing edits. everyone in skiing is so serious. i dunno

Dead fucking honest with you, I've become somewhat disillusioned with skiing over the past few years for just this reason.

I just don't understand why we all have to be so damn serious all the time...

I'm even OK with artsy... its all the god damn triples, massive spins and win, win, win attitude that gets me.

Its like we can't get away from our Racing / Aerials background.

i don't think that we could ever get away from racing and aerials. because when skiing got big aerials and racing was the thing to do. and you would see the odd guy like plake shredding the back country, dressing and acting like a rebel.

and snowboarding originated from other action sports like skateboarding and surfing, where that punk-rock type thing was already there. with skiing somebody had to bring that in.

anyway that's my 16 year old view of things.

(if that looks like shit, i'm tired as fuck)

Fair enough - but you could also argue the exact same thing but the opposite.

I mean the first snowboarders were much more likely skiers than they were skateboarders. Having the idea to be on a mountain in the first place riding chairlifts isn't something that a surfer or a skateboarder is going to easily be on top of.

I'd bet anything there was a few, but that the majority of the early snowboarders skied when they grew up. So technically they came from the same background as us.

I guess their culture took more influence from the skate/surf counter-culture movements....

But again... we did too. I mean we were just copying snowboarding. I just don't get why we can't shake the extremely competitive roots.

That edit reminded me of this too.

It's just growing pains though, skiing still feels like it has to prove itself somehow. In a few years I'm sure it will get there (once fucking everyone has broken their necks from triples/ whatever)

TC is miles ahead on that front.

one of the reasons why i love nimbus independent so much, no massive triples, just some guys out doing what they love, oozing with steeze, although they don't always have that playful demeanor.

Incredible editing, riding, and creativity right here!!

On the topic of the thread, skiing really does need to get back on track as far as capturing fun goes. TC and Nimbus are the closest things we really have to this. All the fun goofy crazy edits are what make serious parts better too. Nah mean?

I say we start by putting a ban on dubstep in edits.

you'd be surprised bishop. whether or not some people like it, skiing is becoming less and less epic every day. and i love it.

dont get it twisted. tc is the think thank of skiing. these guys have been doing it for years and all their videos are so tight to watch

I agree with Mr.Bishop we need more edits like this in skiing - anyone else think of Voleurz when they watched this? That's how I behave with my mates when I'm skiing - minus the world class skiing, but you get my point.

Thanks for posting the edit.

myap. so tech, so creative. I think that snowboarding has more options for creativity than skis just based on the fact that you can slide pretty much anything, and the whole one footed choice (although im not a huge fan) opens up a whole new ballpark. I wish i could snowboard as well as i can ski.

I think you're right... but I think where it is happening is in the webisodes and web edits, not as much in the movies. I'd encourage anyone to cite some segments that are escaping me of course.

But in general, this exact idea is why we're trying to put such an emphasis on edits, webisodes, and online movies. I think that the people doing that are breaking boundaries all over the place, but there isn't a solid ecosystem that exists for it yet.

you guys gotta see his segment in capita's movie this year... always puttin out awesome stuff
