This Is Our Saga

No bro, not everyone's word. I had stuff that got delayed last year as well and rather than constantly bitch about it in retrospect, I paid attention to their emails and practiced a little patience. You're the only one talking shit and you need to get the fuck over it. If you were actually a fan of Freeskiing, you'd recognize that Saga had ~10 years of being THE go-to outerwear for like everyone on Newschoolers and the last two years of difficulties (that IMO they've been pretty damn transparent about) don't negate everything they've done (and continue to do for the community.) Comparing Saga to Revision is totally fucking bunk and you need to understand that the two situations are completely different. Go back to study hall and delete your account.

If I was “actually a fan”, lol kid.

that’s sick you got your gear after all that- I hope it was worth the wait!

spirit of the skittle never dies I guess.

Thank you for the response and ideas. They are similar to ones we already have in the pipeline. Hearing that members of the freeski community is also interested in the same ideas means we're on the right track.

In response to "compensation for kids who spent money on outerwear and didn't get it for a whole season", I've addressed this already but will again so that it is more clear.

Every customer that had an order delayed was either refunded or shipped their product. The vast majority (I'd go as far as to say 99%) of the orders that were delayed (where you say "had to wait a whole season") were not orders of outerwear or apparel. These were orders of accessories. This doesn't make it right. I just want people reading this to have accurate information. No customer has ever waited that long for an outerwear or apparel order. Additionally, these customers were sent free gift cards for any potential future purchase they may want whether or not they received a refund.

Again, this response isn't to try and make excuses or be combative. It is purely to clear up misinformation and discuss with NS users what brands like Saga should be doing to better support the people in this circle of snow sports.

In an effort to dig a little deeper, do you have any specifics as to what kinds of weekly challenges or contests that are preferred? I ask because sometimes certain challenges we have wanted to do (on snow stuff) will exclude too many people that aren't capable of the challenges. Like when we did a play on KOTR challenges for several summers at Windells Camp. We learned that making challenges sound too involved results in a lack of participation.

To add to that, more often than not social media contests aren't really about giving back to the community. They're about collecting data. The way we've tried to run our free giveaways (tag #sagaouterwear, get featured, win free prize) doesn't collect user info but also won't receive as much visibility. We've used this method because we don't want to be constantly contributing to the feed flood of giveaway and sweepstakes posts. We ran this giveaway promotion last winter and gave away 5 free gifts every week to the users that were featured.

I’d start by deleting this pity thread.

It’s cool you did all that but end of the day it’s your word against everyone else’s and from what I hear your word is worth shit rn.

revision thankfully never recovered and I’d be shocked that y’all are. It’s much harder to gain reputation back than it is to lose it so y’all got a long road ahead of you- how you gain it back is up to you but if you really want my opinion I’d do a massive pr project this winter- video contest? Weekly challenges? Contest of some kind? Something that shows you care and gets the community involved with you again (since y’all ignored us for over a year)

also was there any compensation for the kids who spent money on outerwear and didn’t get it for a whole season? Even revision handed out gift cards.

Minute-to-kill it always seemed like a fun contest- never offered to skiers at my hill. People submit edits, 1 min max and then winners are chosen by judge and crowd.

a quartersnacks type top 10 tricks of the week would be sick to see as winter picks up

Thank you for your insight. This is the type of response and discussion we’re hoping to have with this post.

We know there is a long road to travel to get back to where we want to be.

In regards to putting gear into the hands of Newschoolers, I will argue that Saga has given out more product over the years to events, clubs, team riders, skiers that have lost sponsors, etc. than any other brand in skiing. Just ask Windells, Woodward, TAFT or one of the 40+ school clubs/teams that we support with free products and half off discounts.

Just because you don’t always see us advertising what we do with website takeovers and what not doesn’t mean we aren’t working with the community. We typically choose to save those funds for our athletes and their projects.

Can confirm! Back in the day Saga sent a rather large box with some awesome stuff for a rail jam we put on. Jackets, pants, hoodies, etc and we were honestly just expecting hats, and smaller things. It was great. Lots of kids were stoked and everyone who came got something which we didn’t think would happen. Thanks, Saga!

Yeah because visibly giving stuff to the community is "contributing to the flood" lolz.

Keep using secret hashtag giveaways, that seems to be really doing it for yah.

Any chance the NS community can se a 2020-21 sneak peak if not no worries but we def would like to see some early 2000s stuff(BRING BACK THE KNUCKLE PUCK) also that troll should come out from his bridge [tag=22674]@SteveStepp[/tag]

Sadly there isn't. We were preparing to submit new designs for production just as warehouses and factories were shutting down earlier this year. Add to that our entire staff getting furloughed for the summer, mass uncertainties regarding what the coming season will even be like and you have a great recipe to proceed with caution. So in an attempt to not dive back down the hole we've been working to climb out of we decided to postpone new outerwear for one year. We will have new apparel for Spring coming out in March though. New outerwear and winter products will start back up for Winter 2021/2022. It's sad and a first for us. But had to be done in order to put ourselves in the best possible position to succeed in the future.

Damn, didn’t LDC say the same and never come back?

please as stated, return with a bang in 21/22 and give the kids what they want. The old saga vibes with the new tech

Yes they did. But we aren't postponing production because of financial or internal business issues. The decision to post pone was because we didn't even know if resorts would be opening up this season. Unless there is another catastrophe we will have a new winter line available for next season.

In the mean time, we're looking forward to putting together a new apparel line for spring. It's been years since we made anything more than simple t's and pullovers for spring/summer. The time to start making fun stuff again is upon us.

Hey at least you guys are getting the ball rolling again

I really wanted to like your company. Your logo is on all of my favorite ski movies. Most of your clothes look great. I love your support of collegiate groups and community orgs. And I was really stoked to get my hands on my first set of your gear before last season.

Unfortunately I ended up waiting 7 months for what was quite frankly shit quality clothing. Jammed zippers, tearing on the lower leg, fabric that collects water like a sponge. The biggest issue was the complete radio silence when I tried to follow up about my missing order. Pretty much guaranteed that I would never buy from you again.

Hope you guys can get it turned around but at this point it would take a whole lot for me to consider giving you any more money.

I would instantly cop (again) a Saga Anomie 3L jacket style from the early 2010's or a trippy mane hoodie.

I'm sorry you had a poor experience. I can assure you that the delayed delivery and customer service issues have been resolved.

What would you classify as "a whole lot"? A few commenters have said similar things and we want to press for more specifics. The ultimate goal is to better serve the community so having specific actions is incredibly helpful going forward.

Need to start hearing good things from the people I ride with. I know a few people who plan to order from you this year. If they get quality gear shipped on time, I'd consider trying Saga again next time I need clothes

Thank you for your response. It's good to know that we're still a word of mouth brand.
